Hi, I'm Belle — the maker and founder behind Calm by B.

My journey into candle making began as a personal escape — a way to slow down and reconnect with calm amidst the chaos of everyday life. I’ve always loved beautiful scents and simple elegant design, and after experimenting in my friend's kitchen with soy wax and natural essential oils, I was completely hooked. There was a real moment of magic the first time I lit a candle I’d poured myself — it sparked something that’s since grown into a thriving business and creative outlet.

What I love most about teaching candle making is how accessible and therapeutic it is. I’ve seen people walk into a workshop stressed or unsure and leave completely at ease, proud of what they’ve created. Sharing this craft is incredibly rewarding. It’s not just about learning to make candles — it’s about creating space for mindfulness, joy, and connection (and of course, taking home something beautiful too!).

Something unique about Calm by B is our commitment to natural, sustainable materials and elegant simplicity. All our candles are made with 100% plant-based wax, free from nasties, and blended with carefully curated scents designed to calm the senses. I also love to create something different, including sculptural candles like femme and masc torsos and botanical shapes — and yes, I’ll teach you how to make those too!

I bring not just hands-on experience, but a genuine love of what I do. During our workshops, you’ll learn the basics of candle making, explore scent blending, and one of my favourite parts; bust a few common candle myths along the way.
