What you'll do
Looking for relaxing and unique things to do on the Gold Coast? This Chinese ink brush painting workshop focuses on the foundations of traditional Chinese painting.
I will introduce the history, skills and materials of traditional Chinese painting and share how to apply basic strokes to express the elements in nature.
You will complete an artwork on a mounted Chinese paper. This is for anyone new to the art of Chinese brush painting or for those who would like to continue their journey.
Suitable for all skills levels. All painting materials provided!

- Understand the meaning of the strokes

Your teacher
Silka is a Gold Coast based artist, graphic designer and art teacher, specialising in Chinese painting and multimedia illustration.
Born and raised in Guangzhou, China, she completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Xi’An Academy of Fine Arts in China and began her journey as an artist and an art teacher in 2017.
Silka’s works have featured in various exhibitions, including the XAFA Excellent Artworks Collection 2016, Chinese Young Artists Exhibition 2017, and Lethbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Award 2020. Her works are displayed at respected galleries worldwide.
Silka’s featured works and projects:
- Partnered with the Queensland Government and designed Chinese zodiac commemorative birth certificate range, launched 2022.
- Partnered with the Queensland Government and designed Chinese commemorative marriage certificate, launched 2022.
- Hosted virtual and in-person painting classes with exceptional client reviews.
