What you'll do
Curious to learn about the history of clay? Join our pottery hand building workshop with Labyrinth Studio in Perth!
This class offers you a journey through the history of clay, from ancient cave dwellings to the Industrial Revolution.
Learn the fundamental techniques of working with clay and gain newfound confidence and skills to pursue your clay projects at home.
In this therapeutic experience, you'll learn different forms of hand building:
- Pinch pots
- Coil pots
- Slab building, as well as have the opportunity to add an icon of your choice to your creations. Our icon selection includes frogs, fish, seahorses, elephants, Buddhas and more.
Suitable for all levels of experience, your teacher will guide through each step of the process and help you along the way.
To make our pottery session more special, we've included in the cost of firing for up to three pieces for you to make and take home!
Note:
- Private bookings and alternate session times available - contact us to make a booking.
- All pieces take four to six weeks to be ready for collection and to allow time for drying. You will be notified when your pieces are ready to be collected.

- Clay is wonderfully messy! It does wash out of clothes, but if you are super messy, we'd recommend an apron or wear suitable attire.

- Bring your phone or camera. Photography and sharing on social media are encouraged.

This unique craft will unleash the creativity that flows through you and help you to express yourself in this exceptional medium. I found myself fascinated with tiles and how to make them. I have pursued this discipline for 35 years and I would like to share my knowledge with you.
Discover why it is that you are drawn to making tiles like I was. Is it the colour? Is it the design? Is it’s what can be done with them? Don’t you just love them? So many applications.
The world of clay offers a vehicle to introspection, it is a meditative pursuit into which we disappear into the recreation. It also exposes you to challenges, frustrations, a myriad of difficulties. If you meet the challenge and succeed there can be a great and lasting sense of achievement, this is the first step to self-belief and empowerment and how we will help you to achieve this.
