What you'll do
Clay inlay is a decorative technique where contrasting clays—either stained or different clay bodies—are pressed together to create bold patterns, imagery, and surface detail directly within the clay itself.In this workshop, you’ll handbuild your own ceramic piece from scratch while learning foundational clay inlay techniques. You’ll be guided through slab rolling, slab building, and working with simple moulds, then shown how to combine clays to achieve clean lines, layered patterns, and expressive surfaces. Participants can create pieces such as a plate, tray, small dish, or small planter.This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced makers alike—no prior handbuilding or inlay experience is required.
