This beginner watercolour class is designed for complete beginners as well as women who have not picked up a paintbrush in years. There is nothing to prepare, nothing to achieve and nothing to get right.
The morning includes a short guided grounding meditation, reflective journaling, gentle creative exploration and time to connect with other women.

  • Guided watercolour activities
  • Art journaling and reflective exercises
  • Mindfulness and creativity practices
  • Beautiful creative materials
  • Tea and refreshments
  • Meaningful connection with like-minded women
  • A small group experience limited to just eight participants
This women's wellbeing workshop experience is intentionally small, allowing space for creativity, reflection and genuine connection. Held in the beautiful ALIVE Wellness space in Hawthorn.

FAQ

Do I need to be artistic or creative to attend?
Not at all. The gathering is designed for complete beginners as well as women who haven't picked up a paintbrush in years. The focus is on wellbeing, meeting a positive community of women and enjoying the creative process rather than creating a perfect result.
What if I come on my own?
Many guests attend on their own. The gathering is intentionally small and welcoming, making it easy to relax and connect with others if you wish, while also allowing space for quiet reflection.
Is this an art class?
Not in the traditional sense. While you will explore watercolour and creative journaling, the emphasis is on slowing down, self-expression and connection whilst enjoying a mindful creative experience rather than learning artistic techniques.
See more FAQs
What can I expect to feel when I leave?
Guests often describe feeling calmer, more grounded and creatively refreshed. The workshop is designed to provide a gentle pause from everyday responsibilities and create space for inspiration and self-connection.
What will I receive to take home with me?
Guests will receive their own beautiful journal to continue their creative journey beyond the workshop, along with a collection of personal artworks and reflections created during the session. At The Quiet Studio, we believe creativity is also a pathway to connection. Following the workshop, guests will be invited to join The Quiet Studio Circle, a private Facebook community where women can continue to connect, share inspiration and stay in touch between gatherings with no pressure. As part of our commitment to creating purpose and meaning through creativity, guests will also have the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative artwork created during the session. These special pieces are donated to local women's support organisation, sharing a message of encouragement, hope and connection with women in our wider community.

The Quiet Studio

female Women-owned

Hello, I am Joanna, career artist, facilitator and founder of The Quiet Studio.
I created The Quiet Studio for women who are longing for a little more space in their lives. Space to pause, breathe, create, reflect and reconnect with themselves.
My own creative journey began with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Textile Design from Leeds University in the UK, followed by postgraduate studies in Interior Design at Chelsea College of Art in London. Over the past two decades, I have worked across the arts, wellbeing, community engagement and workshop facilitation sectors, helping people connect through creativity, meaningful experiences and personal expression.
Alongside my work as a professional artist, my paintings have been exhibited and collected in Australia and internationally. I have facilitated workshops for hundreds of participants, from complete beginners through to practising creatives, always with the belief that creativity belongs to everyone.
What I love most about teaching is watching people surprise themselves. So many women arrive believing they are "not creative" or that they need artistic talent to participate. Within a short time, they discover the joy of making something with their hands, letting go of perfection, and simply enjoying the process.
My workshops are about self care and are designed to feel calm, welcoming and deeply human. There is no pressure to perform, no expectation to create a masterpiece, and no need to have any previous experience. Instead, you'll find a beautiful space to slow down, explore creativity and enjoy meaningful connection with like-minded women.
Whether we are working with watercolour, art journaling, collage or reflective creative practices, my goal is always the same: to create a gentle experience that leaves you feeling inspired, grounded and more connected to yourself.
I look forward to welcoming you to The Quiet Studio.
