Learn how to crochet and knit in 2026
Explore the world of fibre arts in 2026 with crochet and knitting classes in Melbourne! Unlike online tutorials, our hands-on workshops give you real-time guidance from experienced instructors who can answer questions, correct your technique and help you avoid common mistakes.
In a crochet class, you’ll learn everything from basic stitches to more advanced techniques, creating blankets, accessories or charming amigurumi toys. On the other hand, beginner knitting classes teach casting on, knitting, purling, pattern reading and more, where you can make your own scarves, hats and stylish items with confidence.
Melbourne offers plenty of beginner-friendly, hands-on courses where you can connect with passionate instructors and fellow makers. By the end of the class, you’ll gain a new skill, enjoy some relaxing ‘me-time’ and might even be inspired to continue your creative journey with other textile crafts at sewing and embroidery classes in Melbourne!
What to expect at knitting and crochet classes in Melbourne
Wondering what it’s like to attend a knitting or crochet workshop? It all starts with a warm welcome and a hands-on introduction to your chosen craft. These classes are perfect for everyone—from complete beginners to those with a little experience—so you can learn at your own pace while being guided by a friendly instructor.
As the class gets underway, you’ll start building the essential skills. In a knitting workshop, you’ll get comfortable with knitting needles and practice techniques like casting on, knitting, purling and binding off. In a crochet class, you’ll learn basic stitches such as chains, single crochet and double crochet, gradually moving toward more advanced patterns and shapes. Along the way, your instructor will offer tips, demonstrations and support to help you gain confidence and master the craft.
By the end, you’ll have created your own handmade project and gained a new, relaxing skill. Whether you’re starting your own creative journey or searching for a thoughtful experience gift, a knitting or crochet workshop is the perfect way to discover the joy of turning yarn into something beautiful.
