Recent reviews of Drawing and Painting Class: Foundations
- 5/5 from Jarah Young, attended Feb 2025: It was very good, I have a deeper understanding of scale in drawing.
- 4/5 from Mabel Kan, attended Nov 2024: Flexible to suit my level, patient and encouraging and some useful suggestions The studio is pleasant
- 5/5 from Greg Cavanough, attended Sep 2024: I'm 57 and this was my first art class I've always enjoyed drawing and Matthew made me feel at ease with his Polish humility and hospitality. I really liked having the one on one lesson in his great little studio, he took me back to basics to help correct some of my techniques and help me see where and how I can improve. It's renewed my passion for my art and I'm looking forward to doing homework for the very first time, I too... will be back. Thanks Matthew
- 5/5 from Tim McMurchie, attended Mar 2024: He was a great teacher and made it fun and enjoyable. Especially for a beginner
- 4/5 from Jenny Dolle, attended Feb 2024: Upon arriving to Matthew's studio and meeting him, it was obvious that he was very qualified and well-equipped teacher. I was made to feel very welcome, and the studio is lovely and quite. Matthew has a very thorough approach with his teaching method which reflects his passion for what he does. I feel that I was learning a good balance of practical skills and theory. Matthew supplies all your needs and considers your goals as a student.
- 5/5 from Penny Hessell, attended Sep 2023: The teacher Matthew was great very instructive in explaining the introduction to still life. The venue was delightful - a well appointed studio! I learnt perspective in layout and measurement a necessity when wanting to draw/paint freely. Next shading, I feel will add definition. I look forward to the next class - although will practice as my free day being Friday being booked for a couple of weeks. To quote an actor from a movie: "I'll be back". Penny
- 5/5 from Vanessa Barrett, attended Jun 2023: The lesson with Matthew was both very educational and fun. As someone with very little artistic ability, his teachings were very clear and I was able to improve my drawings quite substantially in a short amount of time. Would definitely recommend.
- 4/5 from Helen Virtue, attended Apr 2023: Matthew was a patient teacher, concentrating on basic still life drawing skills. He gave valuable tuition on perspective, proportion, and ways to improve my drawing skills. An enjoyable experience!
- 5/5 from Cora Rafi, attended Mar 2023: Great class in a relaxing and quiet little studio. Matthew is very knowledgeable and patient teacher. He helped me understand the very basics of drawing techniques, adapting it to my knowledge and style. Will definitely go back!
- 5/5 from Wendy Gillies, attended Jan 2023: An amazing experience with a relaxed atmosphere, lots of laughs and very knowledgeable teacher! Thanks!
Your teacher
Hi, my name is Matthew, welcome to my art classes where I teach the foundations of drawing and painting. A little about me: I have a Master of Fine Arts, having studied 7 years in Europe. I specialise in industrial and interior design and I understand the importance of developing one’s spatial intelligence. It helps us to see more and to create works with lasting impact. In my classes, I aim to bring out the artist in everyone and will show you how to create your masterpiece. My classes are held in my private and cozy studio and all materials are included. Private lessons are also available. My classes are tailored to teenagers, young adults and adults who want to develop and improve on their artistic abilities. As a Fine Arts graduate, I can also help you prepare for university or further artistic study. I look forward to seeing you soon!
