I took my drawing home and worked on it further until I overdid it and got carried away with watercolour. At least I have a drawing that’s better than I expected and all thanks to the encouragement confidence and knowledge I gained from this class.

I've learned some core shading techniques. For the final drawing, I surprised myself tbh. Tamara's breakdown of the process, such as how to get the proportion right and how to break the subject down to shapes really helped!

The animals and flowers were fun to take photos of as subjects for our final exercise. I drew the magpie.

First ever drawing class and Ive been really enjoying completing my first portrait drawing at home using the skills taught. The teacher was so warm and helpful and created a really nice learning environment. Will do another!

Together we drew a picture of a Wattle Bird next to a tree branch. We learnt about using shapes to create form and how to blend these shapes together to create the outline of the bird. We also learnt about value and shading and other drawing techniques with our pencils. I didn't get my image finished but this will give me a project to finish at home. Tamara was a kind and patient teacher, who provided feedback in a positive way. The environment was relaxed and just what I needed on a cold afternoon.

I've always wanted to draw, and was stunned with what I achieved by the end of the lesson. I might not be so hopeless afterall! The fundamentals were explained in an easy to understand way. It gave me the confidence to not give up. Now I want to learn more!
