Do you want to learn practical drawing techniques from an expert, enhance your creativity in a supportive studio environment and make new friends along the way? Join Scribble Cat Studios and begin your drawing journey today!

This class is developed for beginners and is perfect for anyone who ever wanted to learn to draw or for artists with prior experience who want to learn more about the fundamentals of drawing.

Explore the power of observation, perspective, the illusion of depth and how to work from small sketches to larger, complex drawings. You'll also learn about the importance of line, tone, texture, shape, and composition and explore the mediums of graphite, charcoal, pastels, and coloured pencils.

This course will cover:

  • The core principles of drawing and how to create a compelling artwork.
  • How to consider shape, form, proportion, texture, value, and detail in drawing.
  • Expert methods for realistic drawing.
  • How to draw with a specific vision and a clear workflow.
  • How to use drawing as a solid foundation for future artworks.
  • How to train your observational skills.
  • How to implement perspective and composition to communicate visually.
  • How to draw in a relaxed, energetic and confident way.
  • How to express your ideas in a visual work of art.

Your experienced tutor will guide you through small projects and you will get the opportunity to draw from a range of references: still life scenes, photographs, nature, and models. Through demonstrations, exercises, and one-to-one tuition, you will be supported in developing your individual way of observing, imagining, and drawing.

In our judgement-free, casual classes, you can make mistakes and experiment with diverse materials and tools.

This class runs regularly. We recommend to attend at least four single sessions. By the end you will have learned the basic principles and techniques of drawing, and you will be able to use it as solid foundation for your own works of art. You can buy a single session ticket or a four session saver ticket (one fixed booking plus three more flexible session dates).
