Scribble Cat Studios is a new and independent art studio in Melbourne. It was founded by Dr Mara Jordan a European trained artist, academic and educator with over two decades of professional experience.

While we are dedicated to produce our own art, we are also offering a series of inspiring art classes and workshops for adults and teenagers. Our innovative course program focuses on specialised classes in drawing, painting, illustration, comic art, animation, visual storytelling, and portfolio mentoring.

Furthermore, we offer unique ‘art & impact’ classes supporting environmental, animal & wildlife protection and social causes. The focus lies not only on teaching the technical skills of drawing but also to create meaningful work and to encourage the participants individual growth as artists.

At Scribble Cat Studios, our mission is to create a relaxed, fun, and nurturing space for all kinds of artists - beginners to professionals - to come together and express their creative sides.

Mara is so friendly and positive, knowledgeable and a great drawing teacher. She had all the materials set out as well as our still life subjects. Under her guidance I was able to achieve a lovely still life and totally surprised myself

Had fun but it was more like a club people who like drawing than a class to learn techniques for me and my friend

My 8 year old loved this Manga Character Art Class. Mara was such a great and super friendly and talented teacher! Mara taught the kids how to use the Copic markers which was something new for my daughter.
All materials were provided even though we brought our own

Please run more of these workshops during the school holidays. We will be back.

Absolutely loved the class! Our teacher was lovely and obviously very skilled but explained the concepts in easy to understand terms for a beginner like me and instilled confidence. Mara was a wonderful teacher for introducing us to the foundations of drawing, fundamental techniques and also sharing her experiences.
The 2 hours flew by, and enjoyed every minute. Good value.

Highly recommend this class. The teacher was so lovely and our girls felt very relaxed with her. They learnt new techniques and produced some lovely work. Plenty of resources available to use on the day. The studio space was light and bright and there was room to move. The girls had such a great time that we booked another session before we left the venue.

I recently had the opportunity to participate in "Watercolour Class for Beginners", it exceeded my expectations in every way. As a novice in watercolour painting other than some online tutorials during covid, I was looking for a course that would provide a solid foundation and guidance, and this class delivered just that. Tamara very clearly explained the techniques, colours and equipment available and how best to use them in beginner language making it a fun learning experience. The night flew by.

Whether you're a complete beginner or someone looking to refresh their skills, I highly recommend this class.

My daughter had a great time at this class and has been drawing and doodling eyes, characters and faces since. The class had paper, pencils and pens to use and lots of sheets to work from as well as easy to understand and character drawing and building tips from the teacher. It was interesting to do the colouring work also and experiment with the colour pens. A great entry point into manga drawing for kids at all different levels.

It was great to have a small class and really immerse ourselves in painting over the three hour period. Mara had great tips and knowledge, and offered one on one advice when students asked for help.

The teacher was really nice, she made sure everyone was ok & would give out advice and help. The venue was hard to find but the space was great, lots of room to spread out. I really liked the Poska markers that were provided. I drew a Cookie Run Kingdom character but in a Manga version. I’m really proud of what I drew.
