Hi, I’m Emily Raubenheimer—an artist, educator, and nature lover living in Northern Victoria. I’m a fully qualified teacher and taught in schools for 17 years before shifting my focus to painting and mentoring full time. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Monash University in 2003, I’ve taught adults and teens, run workshops, and co-founded The Artists’ Guild—an innovative pop-up gallery and community space that supported women artists during its two-year run in Melbourne.
I’m now a full-time artist, working from my home studio and drawing inspiration from the bushland around me. My work tours across Australia with JUMBLED and other galleries, and focuses on celebrating native flora with bold colour and playful energy. It has been featured in Home Beautiful magazine, and has been shortlisted in several artprizes such as the Jumbled Superstar search and the Omnia Art Prize.
I’m also passionate about sustainability and developed an eco-friendly brush cleaner that’s safe for artists, kids, and the environment.
In my classes, I aim to teach techniques that are both practical and adaptable—skills that students can continue to use long after the session ends. I focus on building strong foundations in colour, composition, and brushwork, while also encouraging personal expression. We don’t all paint the same thing—every student comes away with their own unique artwork. I believe painting is a way to learn about ourselves: it’s about being present, building resilience, nurturing curiosity, and embracing mistakes as part of the creative process.
I customise each class to the students I have on the day—whether they’re experienced artists or picking up a brush for the first time—and always strive to create a warm, encouraging space where creativity can flourish.
