Marc Dimmick - Atelier

I'm Marc Dimmick, the creative soul behind Marc Dimmick Atelier, where I celebrate the vibrant fusion of Clay, Oil, and Light. My journey began long before I established my atelier in 2017. Born in Portsmouth, England, I discovered my passion for art at the tender age of nine—transforming my bedroom wall into a playful mural of Bambi and Thumper. That childhood burst of imagination set me on a lifelong path of creative exploration.
After moving to Australia in 1971, life took me on an unexpected course. While serving in the Army, I found a creative outlet as a chef, crafting intricate table decorations that earned Bronze and Silver awards at the prestigious International Salon Culinaire. These early experiences taught me that beauty and art can be found in every aspect of life, no matter how humble the beginnings.
A pivotal moment arrived in 2016 when my wife, Frances, encouraged me to return to my first love—sculpting. Embracing the tactile world of clay, I immersed myself in masterclasses with inspiring artists like Jason Arkles, Philippe Faraut, and Amelia Rowcroft. Their guidance helped refine my skills and reawaken the artist within. Inspired by this creative rebirth, I expanded my practice to include oil painting, drawing on techniques from mentors such as Bob Ross, Michael James Smith, and Stuart Davies. This evolution allowed me to merge classical mastery with a modern sensibility, resulting in a unique body of work that tells its own stories.
My creative expression doesn't stop at sculpting and painting. For over 30 years, photography has been another channel through which I capture the world's beauty—from striking landscapes to intimate floral scenes. Each medium—clay, oil, and light—contributes to a cohesive vision where every piece is a narrative.
Teaching is my way of sharing that passion. I love guiding students as they uncover their creative potential, and I relish every "aha!" moment when a new idea clicks. Whether you're a curious beginner or an experienced artist, my classes are designed to inspire and nurture your artistic journey.
I invite you to join me at Marc Dimmick Atelier—where every creation celebrates creativity, stories unfold through art, and the timeless dance between Clay, Oil, and Light continues to inspire.
