Fun things to do in Melbourne this weekend

Many of us fall into the trap that knowing how to care for plants is an intuitive skill. But the reality is, anyone can learn how to take care of plants! And for those who really struggle, there are plenty of beginner’s classes and hardy plants to boost the success rate. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just can’t stand the thought of killing another house plant, these flowers and plants classes are here to help. They’re some of the most engaging and unique things to do in Melbourne, and they’re meant to teach you the basics of good plant care. Because these Melbourne workshops are tailored to a variety of skill levels and prior experience, everyone will have something to learn from their passionate flowers and plants instructor. This is the perfect opportunity to try something new or build on the skills you already have when it comes to gardening, plant care, and floral arrangements.

Floristry classes in Melbourne

Does your mood automatically improve when you bring home a new flower bouquet or floral wreath for your front door? We get it! Floral arrangements are such a wonderful way to bring life and colour into any room and special event, and learning how to make them is even more satisfying. With floristry classes, you can learn how to make a floral wreath for holidays and an everyday elegant touch, or you can try your hand at flower bouquet making for special occasions. There are even Ikebana classes if you're looking to bring a little mindfulness into your flower arrangements!

Terrarium classes in Melbourne

Maybe you don’t see yourself as a natural plant caretaker. That’s okay! Terrariums are self-sustaining mini ecosystems that can take care of themselves without your help. If you’ve been wondering how to incorporate more natural elements and plants into your space, but can’t commit to regular plant care, terrariums are the way to go. In these fun terrarium workshops, you’ll learn how to make moss terrariums, succulent terrariums, or other gorgeous landscapes that might just last longer than your other house plants. And with different vessel options, from bottle terrariums to hanging spherical DIY terrariums, you can learn how to make a terrarium that fits your personal style and home decor.

Kokedama classes in Melbourne

Kokedama is an ancient practice rooted in Zen Buddhism. In these unique classes, you’ll learn how to tap into mindfulness while you create your very own gravity-defying Japanese moss ball. Whether you suspend your Kokedama ball from the ceiling or keep it in a beautiful plate or bowl, Kokedama plants are a lovely addition to any home or office. In these relaxing classes, you’ll learn about the best plants for Kokedama and the basics of how to care for your Kokedama to ensure that your plant thrives when you bring it home. Once you learn how to make Kokedama yourself, your friends and family will be asking for their very own Kokedama plants!

Gardening classes in Melbourne

We could all benefit from a little more time dirtying up our clothes in our at-home gardens, and gardening classes are an inspiring way to get back into the garden bed! Whether you’re interested in learning how to grow your herbs or vegetables, or you’ve always wanted a stunning flowerbed in front of your home, gardening classes will teach you everything you need to know to create the at-home garden of your dreams. There are even non-traditional horticulture courses if you want to learn how to look after succulents or how to make a Bonsai tree. Whatever your gardening goals, there are engaging gardening classes to teach you how to achieve them.

Health benefits of floristry

The next time you walk into a room filled with plants of floral arrangements, do a quick mental check-in. Did you notice the moment that your body relaxed and your mood improved? That’s a real health benefit of surrounding yourself with plants, flowers, and other natural elements! If you want a hobby that can consistently lower your stress and boost your wellbeing, flower and plants classes are proven to work!
