Join us for a captivating and creative experience at a special fluid art class in Melbourne with Live For Art. In this workshop, you will learn to create stunning masterpieces using the 'Bloom Technique' (a technique perfected by Shelee Art and now one of the most popular styles of fluid art). Watch in awe as beautiful cells, lacing, and patterns emerge before your eyes, resulting in one-of-a-kind artworks to take home.
Don't be intimidated by the advanced technique involved in the 'Bloom Technique.' It is still accessible to beginners who can follow instructions, allowing you to unleash your creativity without fear.
After some demonstration, students will paint:
  • One coaster
  • One 8x8 inch canvas
  • One 13-inch round board (placemat) OR 12x16 inch canvas.
All materials, guidance, and support will be provided. After allowing your art to dry for 3 to 4 days, you can collect it or have it sent to you for a fee.
During the workshop, you will:
  • Learn how to prepare your canvas/board
  • Mix paints, pigments, and mediums suitable for the technique
  • Follow a specific recipe for the technique
  • Choose colours and layer paints on the canvas
  • Create stunning cells and lacing (without silicone oil)
  • Utilise a spinner device to leverage centrifugal force for even bloom paintings
If you're looking for stimulating and relaxing things to do in Melbourne, why not join this fluid art workshop and unwind with like-minded creatives as you learn new skills.
Please note:
  • You will use non-toxic acrylic paint.
  • The maximum class size is 8 students.
  • Do not attend the class if you are experiencing any flu or unwell symptoms like fever, cough, sore throat, or a runny nose (a full refund will be provided if you are unwell).
What you'll get
  • Guidance from an expert
  • All materials provided, including coaster, canvases/board, tools, an apron, and gloves
  • A handout to help you remember the steps and what you have learned
  • Light refreshments (tea, coffee) provided
  • Your own masterpieces to pick up after 3 days' drying time.
Knowledge required
Although it is a more advanced style of fluid art, it is still accessible to the beginner.
What to bring
  • Make sure to wear old clothes as it can get messy.
  • BYO drinks and nibbles (glasses and plates are provided).

Create original abstract art that you will wow your family and friends and you will be proud to put on your wall.
Julie is a passionate fluid artist who has been exploring this art form for more than 10 years after a lifetime of art, crafts and all things creative. Julie believes that art can enrich and transform our lives, and loves helping people find and express their creativity.

FOR ALL CLASSES … you need NO painting experience. Classes are suitable for the novice as well as hobbyists and artists looking to develop skills in specific new techniques. Everyone is welcome and included. Bring your friends or come along and make new ones.
At Live For Art, ‘creating art for life’ isn’t just a slogan – expressing our creativity brings pleasure, fulfillment, builds self-esteem, and literally colours our day. Let us help you create ‘art for life’.
