What you'll do

This seven hour class is nationally recognised and is designed for individuals who have direct involvement with food or food-contact surfaces, such as cutlery, plates, and bowls, as part of their daily work duties.

It focuses on promoting personal hygiene practices among food handlers to minimise the risk of food contamination and subsequent foodborne illnesses. This emphasises the importance of adhering to established organisational procedures and effectively identifying and managing potential food hazards.

This class is perfect for cooks, chefs, caterers, kitchen stewards, kitchen hands, bar and food and beverage attendants. In some cases, room attendants and front office staff may also benefit from completing this training. Compliance with the requirements outlined in the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code is mandatory for all food handlers.

Upon completion of the course, you will acquire the following skills:

Follow hygiene procedures and identify food hazards
Report any personal health issues
Prevent food contamination
Prevent cross-contamination by washing hands

What you'll get

Upon successful completion of SITXFSA005 – Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety course, you will be issued a Statement of Attainment (SOA) within one week of completing the course.

Knowledge required

You must be 16 years of age and over at the time of course commencement. There are no prerequisite units for this course. Beginner-friendly.

Suitable for

This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a date idea, team building activity, birthday or hens party.

Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 16 years old).

Adult accompaniment is not required.
