After finding myself in a bit of a writing slump, this course was an excellent way to understand the 'why' of storytelling. The tasks completed as part of the course made a real difference to the development of my characters. Talking to other creatives about their processes and ideas was also beneficial. Everyone tells stories differently and, while there is no singular 'right' way to tell a story, with the right tools we can tell a story to be proud of. Thanks, Donita! I used a gift card to purchase this course, and it was very simple to do so.

I came to the course with lots of pieces of my story, but unsure how to shape them or link them together. Each week's session gave me direction, inspiration and motivation, and I am now excited to write. Loved the workbook, and am using it to keep up the momentum. Amanda is a fabulous teacher and made everything come alive.

The workbook shows a lot of work put in. Amanda was excellent for the role, and a fellow traveller in that she is working on books Venue was perfect - association with books is a good trope. group size of 7 to 8 is ideal materials were useful aides and aide memoirs - I would encourage the addition of the heroine's journey chart as it is a different arc to the Campbell Hero quest. The fifty values chart was interesting. The class was a good spur to get on and do things - got me to revisit a movie script, two novels and a family history that have been dagging around largely unfinished. during the process of the course I broke the back of the Third Act in one of the novels that had been elusive for me over the past 12 months. The course gave added spur I did think several times whether $400 odd bucks for a four week course would be value for money given I've literally got dozens of books on writing on the shelves - but the answer was always going to be in the people and the interaction. I enjoyed the sessions, the ability to break bread and eat nibbles, and have opportunity to contribute to conversation.

Amanda held our hands along a beautiful journey which helped me uncover my own personal interests, values and areas of further exploration in my storytelling. She provided a sound structure to follow and the resources and activities were helpful in applying the new knowledge. The venue is amazing as were the snacks and drinks! A nice touch to make the experience all the more enjoyable. But most of all, I loved meeting the other students and hearing their insights and stories. It was inspiring to be surrounded by such creative people!

Amanda was a great facilitator and teacher, and was a font of knowledge, especially when it came to plot devices and character arcs. Amanda is an excellent teacher who provided useful tips and activities to help prompt and get the creative flair happening. I left each week feeling inspired and excited about writing. I now have a fantastic structure and insight in how to approach my writing. It had a fun, relaxed and engaging atmosphere. The Chestnut Tree was the perfect setting for this course. I am very much a novice writer who is curious about writing and storytelling. I have completed the course feeling inspired and ready to write write write. I would recommend this course to absolutely anyone who already has a piece of writing underway or someone who is curious and looking to get creative with words. Thank you to all involved. Sandra B
