Recent reviews of Glass Art Class: Magical Christmas Decorations
- 5/5 from Pam Carter, attended Jul 2025: Perfect course for Christmas in July and/or a birthday! Susan is an engaging and knowledgeable teacher. Her studio is well set up, with a range of interesting glass to play around with. She taught us how to safely cut and work with glass so we could make individual pieces. Susan also has fun precut Christmas decoration blanks you can decorate if you're nervous about cutting out your own. Have no idea how our decorations will turn out after firing, it's all in the lap of "the Kiln Gods". But we had such a fun experience - complete with a happy chatty morning tea (courtesy of Stewart). Great for a couple like us or friends and families. We HIGHLY recommend, Pam and Trevor
- 5/5 from Ulrike Rehr, attended Nov 2022: The teacher, Susan, was very knowledgeable, helpful and welcoming. Susan provided a wide range of material. I learnt how to cut glass, join together glass and about the different 'sorts' of glass. As it was a full day workshop, Susan provided a delicious lunch and afternoon tea. The workshop was definitely worth the money. I enjoyed it very much and recommend Susan's workshops.
Your teacher
My artistic practice is focused on creating works in glass that are cut by hand and then fused and shaped using kilns and cold working methods. My love affair with glass began many years ago, making works in recreational classes. In 2016 I enrolled in a Visual Arts degree at the ANU majoring in glass which I completed in 2019. I enjoy making whimsical and playful pieces. However, I gain enormous satisfaction from teaching others about the mysteries of glass and how create either fun pieces or utilitarian pieces. For people who have a specific project in mind I am happy to tailor classes to suit. A great way for you to start is to enrol in a one day class that is conducted in my studio. Class sizes are restricted to no more than four people.
