Your lovely piece - ready to take home and enjoy!

Unleash your creativity in our captivating glass on glass mosaic class in Canberra! Learn how to cut and shape stained glass, and transform it a unique art piece to showcase your artistic flair. In this workshop, you'll create a stunning piece that be a standout in your home.
Your piece will fit into a standard 11.5x17cm frame (provided).
Feeling a bit unsure about your artistic skills? Fear not! This class welcomes beginners and experienced DIY enthusiasts alike. Just bring your imagination and leave with a mosaic masterpiece that reflects your personal style. It’s a fun and inclusive activity that encourages you to explore your artistic side in a supportive environment.
I provide a selection of designs to choose from, OR if you prefer, email me a colour photo you would like to use, and I will print it out for you to use on the day. The photo needs to be emailed to me one week prior to the class, so that I have time to print it out for you.
During the course, you will:
  • Be shown how to cut glass using the tools provided.
  • We will analyse the photo you are working from and determine a general cutting guide. There is a wide selection of glass to choose from.
  • Cut and shape stained glass.
  • Adhere it to a glass substrate suitable for indoor display.
  • Learn how to grout your piece.
By the end of the workshop, you'll take home a completed piece - made by you!
Here's a glimpse into what to expect:
  • Saturday: This course runs from 10am - 4pm. You will design your piece, shape stained glass and apply it to the base.
  • Sunday Morning: This morning (9:30 - noon), we will be grouting your pieces using a super-smooth cement grout.
  • Alternatively, you can elect to take a grout pack home on the Saturday and grout in your own time. I will email you a video of the grouting process. NOTE: I DO NOT recommend this option if you have not grouted before.
Embrace this opportunity to immerse yourself in artistry and bond with fellow creatives. Each piece created in our workshop is a testament to individuality and expression – just look at the photos for a glimpse of the limitless possibilities!

Merlin Mosaica is a mosaic retail store selling all things for glass mosaic across Australia (and internationally). It is the creative outlet for Ali Howson, who will be your teacher and guide in these workshops.
I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. As a painter I have exhibited in Melbourne, and regional NSW.
My key driver is a love and understanding of colour & texture.
I have collected glass for many years and have visited glass factories in Venice.
I made my first mosaic in 2005.  My material of choice is stained glass.
After many years in IT, I decided to engage in my passion for colour and glass, and want to share my love of this medium with others
