Toby Whittington cofounded Green World Revolution (GWR) in 2012 and has over ten years experience developing urban farming and urban food production systems including growing and supplying microgreens to hundreds of Perth’s top restaurants and chefs.
Toby designed and created the Micro Urban Farm domestic microgreen growing kit and GWR launched the kits in 2021 for people to be able to easily grow and enjoy their own microgreen superfoods at home.
GWR’s Micro Urban Farm domestic microgreen growing kit was a finalist in the 2021 Zenith Global Vertical Farming World Awards for Best At Home Innovation.
In 2022 Toby shifted GWR to becoming a plastic recycling organisation and launched the Micro Urban Farm ECO and ECO ABUNDANCE growing kits as the first microgreen growing kits made by GWR from 100% trash plastic lids.
GWR’s new Micro Urban Farm ECO ABUNDANCE kit won the global award for Best At Home Innovation in the 2022 Vertical Farming World Awards!
GWR is a social enterprise and registered charity on a mission to help 100 long-term unemployed, mature age women re-enter the workforce and to save one million trash plastic lids from landfill and make them into new long-lasting, reusable and recyclable products.

Absolutely love the ethos of this organisation: helping students, the wider community AND the planet. All this while supporting local businesses plus they've received an international award.
Really, what's not to love?
IMHO the class was great value for money. In addition to planting out 1x box with the benefit of supervision/ feedback in class, you get an addotional 4x boxes as part of the take-home "taster" pack. There's even an app for ongoing support along with a physical cheatsheet supplied on the day.
I can't wait to plant them all up so I taste all the different varieties provided!

What a great hidden gem of Perth! We went in with very little knowledge about microgreens and we hadn't heard of Green World Revolution.
We walked away with having thoroughly enjoyed the night. We learnt a ton about microgreens and are confident about using kits we go as part of the workshop.
My friend is already looking at expanding his growing capacity and is super excited. If creating food and gardening is you thing, this is the workshop for you. Even if they aren't, you will thoroughly enjoy yourself as Toby is easy going, passionate, and knowledgeable about microgreens and plastic recycling.

Great little intro to urban farming and growing micro greens in the city. Toby is engaging and was patient in answering all our questions. Location of the workshop is very central and easy to access. We left with a kit of everything to get us started but could have upgraded. I think we'll be back. Would recommend!
