Do you feel like it’s time to inject some fun, fitness and flow into your world? Needing to tone up, tune in and take some time out for you? Our hula hoop class will get the body moving and grooving with a hula hoop. If you are looking for new ways to get fit, relax, have fun, connect with other awesome people and play, then Hoop Sparx classes are for you!

The Hoop Sparx hula hoop class is for beginner and intermediate hoopers and runs in different locations on different days! Please see the schedule below:

Tuesdays in Brunswick 7:30-8:45pm
Wednesdays in Footscray 7:30-8:45pm

Classes focus on finding a connection with the hoop and self as a means of discovering your own flow and creating new hoop dance moves and tricks. You will be encouraged to play, explore, discover and develop your own individual hoop dance style, using group and individual instruction, choreography, improvisation, practice and games.

Our hula hoop classes are a combination of inspiration, fitness, tech, flow, play and dance. Classes include instruction, practice and challenges for everyone at all levels.

The classes run over 8 week terms and you are welcome to come to all classes in a term or come casually to any individual one! Classes include a fun warm-up, cardio (on-body hooping), off-body tricks and tech, flow nad combos!

You will also learn:

  • Concepts of flow
  • Hoop tech and how to break things down to work them out yourself
  • On-body hooping
  • Breaks
  • Off body tricks
  • Twin hooping
  • Combos
  • Transitions that will open up your flow and allow you to find and express your own style of hoop dance

Every move gets broken down to its foundations then built up through variations. This is what makes it truly an All Levels class catering to beginner and intermediate hoopers. Donna Sparx will share with you foundational and cutting-edge innovative moves to take your hooping to the next level.

Donna Sparx is a professional hula hooper and one of Australia’s leading hoop dance teachers. Recognised globally for her creativity, innovation, flow facilitation and playful approach, she has taught thousands of people to hula hoop!

Donna has performed with the Women’s Circus and spread the hoop sparkle all over the country including Rainbow Serpent Festival, Seven Sisters Festival, Super Bloom Festival and Strawberry Fields. She has trained under hoopers from Europe, UK, Canada and the USA. Donna brings a passion and playfulness to her work that is infectious.

When not playing with or teaching hoops, Donna can be found training with the Women’s Circus, dancing, inventing new smoothies, getting out of the city, or deciding which leggings will best reflect her mood.

Her motto: Do it ‘til you can and always spread the sparkle.
