My journey with creative expression spans over 30 years, beginning as an exhibiting artist and classroom teacher, and later evolving into my work as a vocational counsellor. While I loved supporting people to navigate their paths professionally, it was my own personal journey with chronic illness that completely transformed my perspective on wellness and recovery.
Through that challenging chapter, I realized a profound truth: healing isn't something that only happens in clinical rooms. True restoration and balance often come through dedicated acts of deep connection, mindfulness, and creative self-expression.
Driven by this insight, I brought my diverse worlds together. I combined my background in education, my experience in counselling, and specialized training in somatic therapy to bring Imprint Studio to life.
Somatic art practice bypasses the analytical, overthinking mind entirely. When the body is dealing with stress, anxiety, or illness, words aren't always enough. By focusing on somatic awareness - how your body physically holds a memory, experience, or feeling - your hands instinctively know which textures, shapes, and colors to reach for. It transforms art from a technical skill into a grounding therapeutic language that anyone can speak.
I love teaching this way as I get to witness the exact moment a student lets go of perfectionism and reconnects with themselves. Watching someone translate an internal feeling into a tangible, meaningful, and unique artwork they can hold in their hands is incredibly powerful and rewarding.
Over the past two decades, I have shared my passion across classrooms, corporate settings, community groups, and in individual therapeutic practice. Today, I am proud to host these intimate, small-group workshops from the beautiful, calming space at Happy Mind Body & Soul in South Fremantle, as well as bringing mobile sessions directly to private parties, individuals, and corporate groups looking for creative alignment.
