Looking for relaxing things to do in Perth? Head on over to this traditional Japanese tea house and learn all about matcha tea.
Developped by Buddhist monks and samurai warlords, the 'Way of Tea' is encouraged through both slow, ritualized movement to relax our body and our mind, and then through the drinking of tea, it reminds us to enjoy life.
Your hostess has spent many years being trained to facilitate that same relaxation and feeling of pleasure. You are being offered much more than having delicious matcha tea. You and/or your precious guests are being offered honor, appreciation and care.
This experience is a great way to encounter a different culture and reconsider the true value of Japanese way of living.
At the end of the class, return home with clear state of mind, as well as a deeper understanding of Japanese culture and tea.

  • 5/5 from Lesley Prentice, attended Jul 2026: I purchased this for my friend birthday. A great experience. We wore the kimonos which were so pretty and comfortable. • 5/5 from Allouette Bena, attended Apr 2026: Such a well thought out and informative experience. We arrived early for the kimono try on and were blown away with not just the selection but the little bits of information our host could give about how to wear, how kimono are made or even just choosing colours. The tea ceremony itself takes place in a replica tea house and was a very immersive experience (particularly in kimono but definitely still very enjoyable without). We ran from entry to exit and covered both sweets and tea. This is a brilliant experience for someone with an interest in Japanese culture (like my friend) or just looking for a way to slow down and enjoy something out of the ordinary (me).

I grew up in pottery town, learning about old techniques of tea bowl maker from my next door. I was fascinated watching it thrown. That was my first step into Tea world.
While I lived in Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan, I learned about kimono and tea ceremony.
I organised and run guesthouses(small tea house inns) and cafe in Kyoto.
Through this Tea ceremony, you will feel atomosphere changes when you are in meditation state, allow yourself relax and calm.
