Hello my name is Petra. I am trained goldsmith and, now retired, jeweller with more than 40 years in the industry. While working in the industry my jobs varied from designing collections to opening several workshops for some big jewellery chains in Australia.
There is a difference between a goldsmith, who is hands on, and a jeweller who uses finished parts to create their work. Today you also have CAD design via computer-generated 3D models. The materials costs for this are lower and the final product has a different finish compared to a handcrafted piece.
With technology taking over in many ways, the old ways can get forgotten. I have been asked many times "can you teach me?" so I have set up my workshop to have you beautiful people come and give traditional hands-on jewellery-making a go.
The courses are around 4 to 6 hours plus, some day times some evening times and some Saturday all day classes.
The classes will range from creating unique bracelets’, simple bangles, rings in various styles, commitment/wedding ring classes for lovely couples, earrings from studs to drop earrings, brooches and neoprene jewelry necklaces with handcrafted beads or thick trendy neoprene bracelets. But I will start slowly, so keep checking.
Standard tools will be supplied, however any stones/ beads/ findings/ metals material used will be charged extra.
I am happy to teach you how to create some timeless pieces. From beginners to advanced, there is success to be had by you, all you need is patience and the willingness to give it a go because working with Sterling Silver and Gold and beautiful Pearls/Stones is the best feeling ever….see you soon.
