label $280 (or 4 payments of $70 Afterpay)

Join us for our introductory glass art class and learn how to make a gorgeous crazy critter garden stake!

Come along to Whimsical Makings studio for a day of creative adventure in the most beautiful material known as art glass. Your teachers, Susan and Stuart, hope that you will enjoy the day and who knows you may even fall in love with a new craft – a kiln forming warm glass.

The day will run from 9:30 am to 5 pm with an hour for lunch which will be provided as will morning and afternoon tea. Please note if you prefer you are welcome to bring your own food.

You can either bring your own ideas or your teacher has many designs to choose from. The size will need to be restricted to no bigger than 20 x 30 CMS. We just know you will be delighted with the range of colours available.

We will be using scrap glass to assemble our crazy critters (or this could be a flower), that can either be hung on a wall or used in flowerpots to brighten the display. It would be good to know at the outset which of these you prefer.

Once laid out the piece will be fired overnight, usually 24 hours to become one piece of glass, which you can pick up, take home and admire!

My artistic practice is focused on creating works in glass that are cut by hand and then fused and shaped using kilns and cold working methods. My love affair with glass began many years ago, making works in recreational classes. In 2016 I enrolled in a Visual Arts degree at the ANU majoring in glass which I completed in 2019. I enjoy making whimsical and playful pieces. However, I gain enormous satisfaction from teaching others about the mysteries of glass and how create either fun pieces or utilitarian pieces. For people who have a specific project in mind I am happy to tailor classes to suit. A great way for you to start is to enrol in a one day class that is conducted in my studio. Class sizes are restricted to no more than four people.
