Knitting Class for Beginners

Have you ever wanted to learn knitting? This Perth workshop is perfect for you! Perfect for absolute beginners, you will learn basic knitting stitches and techniques and go home with the start of your very first scarf. You will continue the scarf at home to knit it to your desired length - this will provide you with plenty of opportunity to practice and refine your learned skills.You will learn basic knitting stitches and techniques, enough to be able to continue at home and explore beginner projects. How exciting? The session is all about fun, casual vibes, like crafting with friends.This interactive class will first begin with your teacher demonstrating how to hold your knitting needles and yarn. Then, you will learn the following basics:

• Terminology and abbreviations
• Reading beginner knitting patterns
• Casting on
• Knit stitch
• Purl stitch
• Working in rows
• Beginning new rows
• Understanding needle sizes and selecting suitable yarns

All supplies are provided, including your own knitting needles, yarn and tapestry needle, all to take home in a beautiful fabric bag. You will also receive printed instructions which includes the learnings from the class, including a scarf pattern you will begin to work on during the class and continue at home.Classes are kept small (maximum 6 students to 1 teacher; we will have 2 teachers when there's 7 to 12 students, no more than 12 students in one class), this is to allow for plenty of 1:1 time amongst group teachings. This is an unstructured class, in a friendly inviting environment, a lovely crafty timeout.The lesson is held inside the beautiful studio location of the Multicultural Language Centre conveniently located along Hay Street in Subiaco, with plenty of parking, free on Sundays too, so good!So what are you waiting for? Max student to teacher ratio is 6:1 (when all adults), to provide maximum 1:1 teaching amongst group work during the session.Private group bookings are also available.
