The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn fun and relaxing way to create beautiful images by drawing structured, repeated patterns. It increases focus and creativity and provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal wellbeing.

Knowledge required

No artistic ability is required. Previous Zentangle experience is helpful but not essential. If you can hold a pen and write your name you’re halfway there!

What you'll get in your craft kit

A black Sakura Micron 01 pen.
A pencil.
A tortillion (smudger).
Two white square tiles.
Two white Bijou tiles.
One white circular Zendala tile.
One white Apprentice tile.
Bag.

What you'll need

Some spare paper/art journal if you like to practice your tangles first.
Optional: please feel free to pre-prepare your tiles with a watercolour wash or similar background.
And if you like to explore with colour, some watercolour pencils would be fun, but absolutely not essential.

I am a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT). I have been tangling for about 8 years and teaching for over 5 years. Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, fun and relaxing way to create beautiful images by drawing repeated structured patterns. No artistic ability is required. If you can hold a pen and write your name you are half way there. There are no mistakes in Zentangle, so you can’t get it wrong. Zentangle increases focus and creativity as well as providing simple and quick access to mindfulness. I love sharing my passion for Zentangle. I love both for the beauty of the artwork itself and the added benefits of relaxation, reducing anxiety, helping with insomnia, helping manage chronic pain, ...... the list goes on!

An absolutely lovely and peaceful class. Niki first went through a number of floral tangles with examples of how to produce intricate pictures using them. Next we created a bouquet of flowers using more tangles then finished with a sunflower to do at our own pace.

This class is a beautiful extension on ‘traditional’ Zentangle and has given me the opportunity to use these tangles taught by Niki in different ways (like cards) as well as with other materials (like watercolours).

I’ve had so much fun integrating the sunflower design into my journal and am impressed with the finished product!

I can’t wait to use what Niki’s taught in other ways, and would recommend this class to anyone and everyone (beginner or not), as she is a talented and patient teacher who adapts to what you need and goes through each step simplistically.
