Looking for unique things to do in Melbourne? Learn how to make Incense!
This immersive experience allows you to connect with traditional practices of Chinese incense making passed down through generations.
Start by selecting your favourite scent from three exquisite options: sandalwood, floral and cypress. You'll then learn to blend these aromatic scents to create your own unique incense mixture.
Under the guidance of skilled artisans, you'll master the use of an incense gun to craft delicate incense sticks, discover the techniques behind shaping a tower incense or incense flake and learn how to make your own incense holder. This hands-on workshop not only teaches you the skills but also delves into the cultural significance behind each step.
At the end of the session, you will take home your freshly made incense sticks, tower incense or flake insence to dry. Once dried, you can light your creations in the incense holder you crafted, filling your space with a fragrance that is soothing to your senses.

  • 5/5 from Felicity Addis, attended Mar 2026: This was a relaxing and informative class. Our teacher, Kristie was friendly, engaging and patient. We came away with 9 incense sticks, 2 incense cones and 2-3 clay holders to burn the incense with. We picked the fragrance we wanted to use, were shown each step and then worked at our own pace with our beautiful teacher available to help as needed. The hour sped by! We can’t wait to try our incense once it has dried in 3-4 days time.
  • 5/5 from Nancy Nguyen, attended Mar 2026: Realy interesting
  • 5/5 from Mel Nicastro, attended Mar 2026: I attended the Mixed Coffee Incense Making Workshop for Beginners today and it was such a wonderful experience Maggie was absolutely brilliant — so kind, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. She guided me step by step through the incense-making process and made everything easy to understand, even as a complete beginner. I learned how to make my own incense from scratch and even created my own incense holder, which made the experience feel extra special and personal. The whole workshop had such a calm and creative atmosphere, and I learned so much. I left feeling inspired, proud of what I made, and excited to continue practicing at home. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone who wants to try something creative and hands-on!
