Get creative at Kaya Jewers' hands-on linocut day class in Melbourne and make unique prints and designs from scratch!

In this intensive class, you will learn how to carve lino and print a multi-block edition using a key block. You'll learn to carve the key block first, which is a detailed outline block. Once you have your key block you will print it out and start planning your colours. This technique is used in traditional Japanese woodblock print, mokuhanga. We will be carving 3 blocks of A5 size..one outline block and 2 colours. The class is 6 hours with a 30 minute break for lunch.

In the class, your teacher will talk you through some different ways to print at home.

During the class, we will cover:

  • Drawing designs (make sure to come to class with some ideas)
  • Carving your key plate with your own design
  • Planing and carving your coloured blocks
  • Printing your designs

If you're looking for unique things to do in Melbourne, why not try out this fun linocutting class and turn your design into real-life artwork in just a few simple steps!

I am a printmaker based in Melbournes North East. I've been passionate about printmaking since I first studied it in 2002. My studio, Hazy Bubble Studio, is located in Kew East.

I've produced prints in just about every form of printmaking from lithography to aquatint, to monoprint, and all things in between.

I currently have a small press and my studio is spacious enough to host small, focused groups.
