Learn the fun craft of needle felting by making a wagtail bird!

4 hours Class size 1 to 6 guests

$100 (Afterpay & PayPal Pay in 4 available)

Begin your journey into the art of stabbing wool by learning to needle felt a djiti-djiti (willie wagtail) in this relaxing, beginner-friendly workshop.
Needle felting is a craft that involves using special barbed needles to sculpt unspun wool into 3D shapes. It's a very simple and forgiving craft to learn, with no patterns to follow, no special techniques, and almost always a way to fix any mistakes. It's great for stress relief as it's pretty much just stabbing wool until the piece comes out how you want!
You will learn everything you need to know about needle felting, including how different types of wool and needles are used for what purposes. By the end of the afternoon, you will create a charming little bird to take home.
We'll be a small group with a maximum of six learners, so you will receive plenty of one-on-one attention to help you along the way.

I've been needle felting since 2015. Earlier that year, I had decided to crochet my friend's greyhound as a birthday present. After having to undo and redo the legs multiple times due to miscounting rows, I swore off any craft involving patterns ever again.
For me, the joy of needle felting is exactly that - no patterns, no rules, it's just stabbing wool with needles until it becomes an adorable creature. It's pure imaginative freedom. There is magic in starting with wisps of wool and coaxing it into a solid form.
I love to share this magic with others as I truly believe needle felting is one of the easiest crafts to learn. There are no stitches or patterns or complex techniques, no projects lost in the kiln or to cracks while drying. Almost all mistakes can be fixed, parts can be cut off and reattached. It's wonderful to watch people make something they are happy with right from the start.
