Hi, I’m Ola — founder of Ola’s Lab, and a passionate cook with a deep love for creativity, culture, and connection through food. My journey began in my childhood kitchen, cooking traditional Syrian meals with my mom. While those dishes rooted me in heritage, I was always curious about international cuisine. I had a wild palate even as a child — always eager to explore new flavors and spend hours testing recipes just for fun.
Professionally, I started as an architect and spent over a decade working in real estate. But a few years ago, I decided to pursue what truly lit me up: food. I studied at TAFE, graduating with the Best of the Year Student Award, and completed my Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, Certificate IV in Patisserie, and a Diploma in Hospitality.
Since then, I’ve been proud to receive several recognitions for my work — including winning awards at both the Melbourne Cake & Bake Show and the Melbourne Royal Show. These milestones have been incredibly affirming, but my favorite moments still come from the kitchen — especially when I’m teaching.
At Ola’s Lab, I run joyful, hands-on cupcake decorating workshops, mainly for kids and families. I absolutely love working with children — they’re imaginative, curious, and full of excitement. Whether we're making monster faces, animals, or floral cupcakes, my classes are all about building confidence, sparking creativity, and making sweet memories together.
