Paint and Spin Wheel Throwing Class

Create two pots on the wheel and paint them with underglaze!

1.5 hours Location Tamborine Mountain Class size 1 to 6 guests   $140 - $145 ($140 for WEEKDAYS; $145 for ) (Afterpay available)

Discover the world of wheel throwing in our welcoming and intimate paint and spin class in Tamborine Mountain.
In this class, designed specifically for beginners, you will learn the basics of wheel throwing, create two beautiful vessels and paint them with underglazes.
Our experienced teacher, Dyllan, will guide you through each step, from throwing clay to painting and provide hands-on instructions to bring your clay to life. You'll have the opportunity to practise various techniques and methods while enjoying the relaxing rhythm of the spinning wheel.
One unique aspect of this class is that as the wheel spins, you will be able to paint your pots using our selection of vibrant (Coyote) underglazes. This allows you to express your creativity and give your creations a personal touch. This class is great for families, friends, and kids.
Once you've completed your vessels, our skilled teachers will add a translucent glaze to make them food safe and dishwasher safe, ready to be picked up within 3-4 weeks.
At Clay Temple, we believe in providing a nurturing environment for our students. That's why our wheel throwing classes are small, with only six students at a time, ensuring you receive personalised attention and guidance.
By the end, you can take your handmade pottery home, as well as some new foundational ceramic skills!

  • 5/5 from Simone Galloway, attended Nov 2024: Having just returned from Vietnam, Hoi An, I felt inspired to try a clay pottery class. So, in the heart of Mt. Tamborine, we found a company called the "Clay Temple Co." where within the little workshop Dylan, a clever, patient, young gentleman, would take us through the steps to create, imagine, and mould clay into our own choice of options such as a pot, cup, and/or plate. It is not as easy as it looks, but, with Dylan's expertise, knowledge, and insights, the 1.5 hour experience felt like 15 minutes as we had so much fun. I can't wait to return to see the glazed finish and to take up more classes next year. That's a BIG thank you from me with a 5/5 star recommendation to have a go for anyone interested in developing their artistic flare. A little village shopping and lunch afterwards is perfect to allow time to think about pre-Christmas preparations too.
  • 4/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Nov 2024: Four of us booked outside of normal hours for a bachelorette party and they were very accommodating and responded very quickly. • 5/5 from Naomi Crawford, attended Oct 2024: It was an awesome class today. We made 2 different items. Dylan was a fantastic teacher guiding and showing us step by step what to do. We want to go back and do another class learning something else new. It was a lot fun!! If you’re undecided, I’d highly recommend going and giving it a go. Have fun!
  • 5/5 from Kisha Werba, attended Jul 2024: Di & Dylan were fantastic. We not only enjoyed our learning experience, but also the environment where we felt at home. It was fantastic to enjoy many laughs but also become present in the moment. We have already started recommending others.

  • 5/5 from Aimee Ferrie, attended Feb 2024: We did this paint and spin session for my sister's birthday and it was an absolutely awesome choice! Dyllan is an amazing instructor - super clear, enthusiastic and patient. He went above and beyond taking the time to make sure we all ended up with a piece that we loved and enjoyed making. The class was well organised with plenty of clay and all the equipment needed. The space is contemporary and welcoming with cool pottery pieces around to look at for inspiration! We would all highly recommend this class to anyone, especially beginners! It is a great value, super fun class and we will definitely be back for our next birthday celebration!
  • 5/5 from Shanyn Fales, attended Jan 2024: My daughter and I had such a nice experience. Dylan is lovely and patient, his demonstrations and instructions are really clear and easy to follow. Will most likely go again!
