How this class runs:
1. A Warm Welcome and Tea
We start with a relaxing tea time to help you settle in. Enjoy a cup of premium jasmine or green tea, paired with traditional Asian treats. This is a quiet moment to clear your mind before we begin.
2. Choosing Your Colours
As a certified advanced instructor, Sally will guide you to pick a colour palette that fits your mood. We will shave professional soft pastels into fine powder. You will learn how to prepare the materials just like a professional artist.
3. Soft Blending with Fingers
Forget about paintbrushes. In this class, we use our fingertips to gently blend the colour onto the paper. This touch is very healing and soft. You will feel the stress melt away as you create a smooth, glowing background.
4. Creating Your Unique Shapes
We will use simple tools to cut and craft your own custom stencils. You do not need any drawing skills. Sally will guide you to arrange these shapes into beautiful patterns, letting your unique mandala grow on the paper, layer by layer.
5. Framing Your Artwork
To finish, we will spray your art to protect it. Then, we will place your mandala into a beautiful frame. You will leave the class with a framed piece of art, ready to display at home or give as a special gift.

FAQ

Do I need any artistic skills or drawing experience?
Not at all. This workshop is designed for complete beginners. As a certified instructor, I will teach you how to use stencils and simple tools to create beautiful shapes. The focus is on relaxation and mindfulness, not on being "perfect."
Do I need to bring anything to the class?
No, just bring yourself and an open mind. I provide all professional-grade Japanese materials, tools.
Is the pastel powder messy?
It is very gentle. We work with fine powder that can get on your fingertips, but it is very easy to clean. I provide wet wipes, and the pastel washes off easily with just water. It will not stain your clothes permanently.

Hi!
I’m an artist and creative facilitator with a passion for helping people slow down, relax, and reconnect with themselves through art. My main art practice is Japanese Pastel Nagomi Art.
“Nagomi” means harmony or calm in Japanese, and this spirit is at the heart of everything I teach.
Pastel Nagomi Art is unique because it doesn’t use brushes. Instead, we gently scrape soft pastels into powder and use our fingers to blend the colours onto paper. This slow, hands-on process feels grounding, soothing, and deeply calming — even for complete beginners.
What I love most about teaching is helping people realise that you don’t need to be “talented” to create something beautiful. With this simple finger-painting technique, anyone can experience the joy of art in a relaxed, pressure-free way.
I believe art should feel safe, gentle, and accessible — not scary or complicated. My goal is to create a warm and welcoming space where you can pause, breathe, and enjoy a mindful break from everyday life.
Experience & Credentials
I have over 10 years of drawing experience, and my art journey has been featured on SBS and at the Happy Place Exhibition.
I am a fully qualified professional with:
JPHAA Pastel Nagomi Art Advanced Instructor Certification
Bachelor of Communication Design
Certificate in Art Therapy
I’m deeply interested in how art can support emotional wellbeing and reduce stress, which is why I combine my design background with therapeutic art approaches. I currently run community workshops with the City of Greater Dandenong, including sessions in Springvale, Dandenong, and Keysborough.
In addition to Nagomi Art, I also create watercolour pet portraits.
Feel free to visit my Instagram to explore my artwork and creative journey.
