In this workshop, we’ll adapt the traditional craft of broom making with pine needles. You’ll create your own turkey wing style broom as well as a small brush using locally foraged pine needles and hemp twine.
A design known for its sturdy, fan-like shape, perfect for use around the home, studio, or workshop, this versatile brush is as functional as it is beautiful.
This is an intro class, don’t worry if you have no experience. You’ll be guided through the process in a welcoming and supportive environment. Starting with the small brush we'll get use to the tension and technique ready for the turkey wing broom. All tools and materials for the class are provided; you’ll leave with your own finished broom.
Join us to explore the art of crafting with nature, to create a functional, sustainable product that reflects your commitment to a greener living.

My name is Leah. I’m the owner and creator behind This Lush Corner an online fibre store and now a learning space to help you dive into a new craft.
I’m a Fibre artist and accredited teacher through the Australian Crochet Guild and bring my lifelong experience in crochet and fibre crafts. I am a lover of not only crochet, but knitting, machine knitting, basket weaving and Pine needle basketry crafts.
I choose slow fashion, mending and repurposing rather than disposal. There's something special about the process of creating or repairing something by hand, it's a mindful activity that allows us to slow down and appreciate the craftsmanship involved.
It's a way to preserve traditional crafts and share stories with others and pass on knowledge.
If you are ready to try your hand at a new skill, then let’s jump in and discover the joy of making together!
