Create a cosy cotton continuous granny square blanket with confidence over 2 sessions

2 x 2.5 hours Class size 1 on 1

  $180 - $299 ($180 for Small group tuition; $299 for 1 on 1 private class) (Afterpay & PayPal Pay in 4 available)

Build strong crochet foundations while creating your first blanket.
Have you tried learning crochet from YouTube, social media or a crafty friend, but still feel like you’re piecing it all together?
Perhaps you can make a chain or work a basic stitch, but you’re not quite sure how crochet actually works — where your hook should go, how to recognise your stitches, turn corners, control your tension or confidently keep a project going on your own.
This course is designed to bridge that gap.
Over two hands-on lessons and 5 hours of personalised tuition, you’ll learn quality crochet fundamentals while beginning your own continuous granny square blanket.
Rather than simply following a pattern, you’ll develop an understanding of how crochet is constructed, giving you the skills and confidence to continue your blanket independently — and a strong foundation for future crochet projects.
Lesson 1 — Crochet Fundamentals
2.5 hours | Maximum 2 students
With plenty of individual guidance and time to practise, you'll learn:
  • How to comfortably hold your hook and yarn
  • Slip knots and chaining
  • Double crochet
  • Granny stitch clusters
  • Working sides and corners
  • Joining rounds
  • Changing colours
  • Weaving in ends
  • How to recognise and correct common mistakes
  • Building confidence and consistency through practice
Lesson 2 — Blanket Design and Planning
2.5 hours | Maximum 4 students
BYO yarn (recommendations provided or add on a yarn kit)
Now that you understand the fundamentals, we’ll bring everything together to plan and begin your blanket.
You'll learn:
  • Skills revision and troubleshooting
  • Crochet hooks and how they affect tension
  • Understanding continuous granny square blanket construction
  • Choosing yarn and colours
Planning your blanket and colour sequence
  • Starting and growing your blanket
  • Creating a simple crochet border
  • Understanding US vs UK crochet terminology
By the end of the course you’ll have started your own continuous granny blanket and, more importantly, understand the crochet skills behind it.
You'll leave with the confidence to continue working on your blanket independently at home and a solid foundation you can take into future crochet projects.
Perfect for: Beginners who have had a go at crochet before — perhaps through YouTube, online tutorials or learning from a friend — and are ready to properly understand the fundamentals and build their confidence.
New to crochet? You’re still very welcome. No formal crochet experience is required as we start from scratch, although having picked up a hook and experimented with a few basic stitches beforehand will help you get the most from the course.
Not sure about group learning environment and would prefer a private class. I offer private classes with a private class option with a surcharge.
