In this beginner-friendly class, you will learn how to use resin art to decorate an incredible, rectangular 50 x 30cm cheeseboard. Work with gorgeous colours, patterns and shapes to personalise your own unique design.
After your expert resin artist clearly demonstrates the process, she will then assist you with what colours to choose as well as mixing and pouring techniques, so don't worry if you have never tried resin art before!
You will experience the relaxing and satisfying benefits of this super fun art form and take home your own cheeseboard to impress your next party guests.

Resin is a two part chemical with strong fumes, Due to potential health dangers all workshop participants are supplied with gloves, aprons and instruction on how to safely heat and manipulate the resin. Correct and safe use of heat torches (up to 600 degree) and butane burners (open flame).
Due to the safety precautions, this workshop is not recommended for pregnant women and any participants under 12 years of age. All Parents & guardians must sign a waiver for any child participating.
Anyone entering the resin studio must be wearing PPE and in turn be registered and booked into the workshop.
Please Note.
A full demonstration of your project will explain the products, project and methodology by your teacher before you start your own masterpiece. The working time of resin is 30-40 minutes before the curing process starts, so working quickly and following instructions is required. Class time is 1.5 - 2 hours and may fluctuate depending on class size and time taken to choose colours etc.

After excelling in Art at Mercedes College, I was accepted to Edith Cowan University studying Visual Arts. And later Business & Professional Accounting at Curtin University. After a 20-year career working and Studying in Book Keeping & Accounting until 2016, I began painting again and realised where my passion was.
The opportunity arose in December 2018 to open a Children's Art Studio, I have been working to create and develop a Fun and Comprehensive Curriculum to teach a wide range of skills and mediums to children whilst teaching correct technique in a manner that can be adapted to different skill levels.
Working from my East Victoria Park studio, I teach Childrens Art Classes on Saturdays. I Offer Resin Art, Pastels Painting, Alcohol Inks, Oil Painting & Other fluid & Abstract workshops for Adults.
I have been working with Resin since 2018 and have exhibited some of my large scale Seascapes in December 2020 & sold many pieces to Western Australian clients & galleries.
I like to teach children a wide range of mediums including Drawing, Clay, Acrylic, Pastel and Oil Paints.
I generally work in Pastels for custom portraits and Oils for my more contemporary style painting. I specialise in original commissioned Custom portrait paintings and more contemporary stylistic, colourful works. I had always been an animal lover and have always been drawn to horses. Over the past years I have worked hard to develop my own style of Equine Art.

Our Resin Art Class was amazing! We were total newbies to resin and Shannan walked us through the process so well! All the materials and equipment were supplied and there were so many colours to pick from! I loved that our group could really explore creativity, and we could choose to replicate the demonstrated design or really lean into our our own inspiration. We had so much fun and now get to show off our very own cheeseboards the next time we entertain!

My sister, my husband and myself loved this class. We all thought Shannon was great.
In all honesty the Instructions were a lot for me to take in during the demonstration and I did get lost and started doing things out of order, but the class was a good size that you could ask questions as you go, double check if you feel your miss stepping and get regular guidance.
Shannon was always around and attentive and super responsive to everyone's questions.
My sister loved the nibbles and drinks addition and thought it would be a real lovely date night. My husband on the other hand almost immediately asked if there were any more classes we could attend. So I'd say that was a win on the workshop for us =D

Value for money and fun! Never having done this sort of activity before, I learnt about bubbles, heat, cells and that I need to pay more attention to where I am allowing the resin to drip! Shannon was always helpful and friendly, and had such a generous variety of alcoholic as well as non-alcoholic drinks to welcome us.
There was cheese on a cheese board if we wanted it.
Shannon had an impressive array of work there to inspire us.
The CLASSBENTO overarching business could provide a sandwich board to go on the street to make it easier to find the Classbento class, not just count on the individual teacher’s name and the address to find the location. Craft activities are often in out of the way spaces.

Felt too rushed. Workshop needs to be at least half hour longer. Teacher trying to pack too many workshops into one day. Could be a more relaxing and creative atmosphere.
Suggestions:
- Have a basic practice on scrap pieces of wood first to see how resin works and heats, rather than waste a large piece of stained cheeseboard and make mistakes, so wood becomes a waste and not be used. (I understand the time and money factor etc) but student skills and satisfaction of their work will improve.
- Encourage own creative ideas instead of rigid structured art piece.
- More calmer teacher.
- Allow time to talk about the products if wishing to purchase so can practice at home.
Best not to provide alcohol at 1030 am for this type of work using heat guns and blow torches. :)

Refreshments are offered in all of my workshops, water, orange juice, mimosas, non-alcoholic bubbles and bubbles were offered. Each participant chooses whether they wish to consume any alcohol, which you chose to partake.
The working time of the resin and the materials were explained to all of the participants and is explained in the description of the booking.
Due to the work time we are restricted to the 2 hours for the workshop which we actually went over.

The Art Teacher Shannan Nicole is very nice happy friendly person and was VERY patient and helped us through what was a very new exciting experience for all of us.
The venue was comfortably warm in winter,easy to find with plenty of free parking.We were greeted by Shannan with a glass of champagne and canapés while we were admiring the many previously completed artworks on display.
All the art materials were supplied and set up conveniently on the art work bench before we got there.Seating was available for those of us that find it hard to stand for any length of time.Aprons and disposable gloves were provided to protect our clothes
The experience was VERY good value for money.
We learnt how to make magic happen.

If you've ever been 'art curious' definitely take a course with Shannan. Shannan is super-organised, clear in her communication and helpful to each individual in their execution. We were greeted by water/champagne/juice options and a delightful example of a laden cheeseboard (we were making cheeseboards) to nibble from. Everything we needed was provided, right down to the gloves, resin wipes, apron and all the tools and pots and sticks. No sharing of tools required! I had booked this workshop as a birthday gift for my 82 year old mum and my 89 year old dad wanted to do it too. So there we were, a 57 year old, 82 year old and 89 year old doing resin art for the first time ever! So we had a class with people from age 14 to age 89. We are hooked and will sign up for more classes by Shannan! Thanks Shannan for a wonderful experience!

We arrived to a glass of bubbly and some cheese which was great! Shannan was lovely and provided a great demonstration to the class before going around and helping everyone individually where needed. I did the class with my mum and sister and definitely recommend it! We loved all the different colour options available to us and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the wood - even for the standard cutting board!

Shannon our teacher was lovely and gave a good demonstration before we used the resin techniques. There were plenty of examples to give us ideas of what we could do. The workshop was set up well: air conditioned and the class was well organised with good info on what to expect and reminders about dates and what to bring . There was a good range of colours provided and lots of help, making it easy to achieve a completed product by the end of the class . Our class had 5 participants, giving everyone lots of space. All the equipment including clean aprons was laid out ready. It was lovely to be provided with a few nibbles and some bubbles. Shannon finished off the cheeseboard for you after it has completely set and you go back to pick it up at a later date.

It was great experience. She was very practical in approach and conduct the workshop in very safe manner.
All initial material were provided and she went through first setting the work by herself then allowed us to do so that she can fully concentrate on student and help student to finish the work on stipulated time.

We were rather disappointed as the whole evening seemed rushed and the class did not run for the allotted two hours.
There were only 3 of us booked in for the class but feel the tutor was distracted and did not give us the tuition we needed.
Given there were only three of us in the class I would have liked a bit more tuition. I like what I achieved but think it could have been better.

My classes are always started up with a full
Demonstration to take you through the project step by step, explaining the process, the products and my methodology.
Resin is a process that needs Concentration and due to the 30-40 Minute working time, it must be done quickly following instructions.
Having only three people in the class is quite rare, my minimum class is 4. I did check back in April when you attended I taught 20 people on that day over 3 classes.
I apologise if you felt you didn’t get enough instruction. After the demo, I have to spend my time with all of the students and some need more Assistance or ask more questions, so I am Sorry if you felt you didn’t get enough tuition from this class.

I went with my sin and my best friend we choose the cheese board package and did 2 extra coasters.
I loved everything that I have learnt, instructions were clearly presented and support we provided each step of the way.
I felt it was priced accordingly and were welcomed with and cheese and crackers, with water also provided.
I will be going back to do a clock and also invite work colleagues to do.

The class itself was great and lots of fun! Shannan was a good teacher and explained things really clearly, however when I had the idea to pour in a way that would later allow me to turn my cheeseboard into a clock (vertical - with a tassel hanging off the end through the finger hole - my room is asian themed) she wasunimpressed. Turns out that she runs clock resin pouring classes for $195-$255 and I don't think she liked the idea of me doing the 'cheaper' class and getting a similar result to her pricier class. She is also not very generous with her supplies. She gives you enough to get the job done - just. Several people in my class got a little excited and used a little too much resin on their cheeseboards so they couldn't quite do their coasters. Rather than providing them with a few more ml of resin (literally all it would take) other participants had to give some of their resin away so that everyone could complete their projects. While that was done in good humour on everyone's part and I know the supplies are expensive I couldn't help but think there that I would never put paying customers in that situation. All that being said, it was still a fabulous class, we had fun and were very happy with the results. If you want to learn how to make these or want to give a unique gift to someone I absolutely recommend the class!

In future if you are interested in doing a project that is not specified in the brief then it may pay to reach out in advance. In a class of 8 participants and myself I measure and prepour all of the resin prior to the beginning of the workshop. So assuming that extra resin will be available is not always possible especially in a busy class.
As per the manufacturers recommendations Resin is poured at around 3mm coverage for best results therefore the amount required is calculated on what is required per project. Your cheeseboard used 120ml. Which is exactly the measured amount based on covering a 30 x 20 cm area. Other members of your workshop upgraded to extra coasters which included extra resin trial 150 ml, others also upgraded to jarrah. Many options are available to upgrade for my workshops. 40 cm Clocks use 300ml of resin and the 60cm clock 500ml of resin. Calculated by the manufacturers art calculator which you will find on there website Uresin.com
Yes the materials are expensive and in 3 years teaching and over 5 years working with resin I have not had these complaints before.

Shannan was so super lovely and nice. Her studio is absolutely gorgeous and has so much of her artwork out, which proved super helpful in choosing your colours and patterns to use. She was very knowledgeable of her work and was very good at making sure everybody was comfortable. It was a perfect amount of time too. I’m so excited to pick up my cheeseboard and coasters later. We had a really fun group too which was awesome.
I had the best time discovering how to do resin art with Shannan. She is an absolute delight and very knowledgeable.
I am definitely keen to return to do more classes with other friends as this time I had my partner join me. He also enjoyed the experience!

Great class, easy relaxed and only 6 students , which was a full class , and allowed Shannan ( tutor) to help everyone individually.
