I’ve been drawn to textiles for as long as I can remember. I started sewing at fifteen and went on to study Fashion at Bentley TAFE for two and a half years, where I deepened my love of fabric and form. About five years ago I discovered natural indigo dyeing and was instantly captivated—the slow, almost alchemical process of turning cloth the deepest blues felt both ancient and alive.
For me, indigo is more than a colour; it’s a living tradition worth preserving. I’m passionate about keeping these time-honoured methods alive while creating spaces where people can connect face-to-face and experience the magic of making something by hand. My workshops are intentionally atmospheric and community-minded: a chance to pause, play, and share in the quiet excitement of watching a piece of cloth transform.
Teaching feels natural to me—I come from a family of teachers, and sharing knowledge is in my blood. Guiding others through these techniques is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
Alongside teaching, I run a small store where we create clothing and homewares using the same natural dyeing techniques. Some of these pieces have been featured in respected interior design books—a recognition that reflects the care and craft behind every item.
I also work as a photographer, which feeds my eye for texture, light and detail. That perspective shapes the way I teach—I love helping people notice beauty in the process as well as in the finished piece. Nothing beats the moment when someone pulls their fabric from the vat for the first time and sees those luminous blues emerge.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or a fellow maker, I’d love to welcome you to an indigo session and share the craft that continues to inspire me.
