Silver Ring Making Course: Wax Carving and Finishing

Come and join this rewarding two-session ring making course and learn skills that professional jewellers use to cast one-of-a-kind pieces.

The beauty of the lost wax carving process is the unique and personal shape and styles that can be achieved. You can carve a smooth organic shape, put a contemporary spin on a rustic signet or go for an edgy geometric vibe.

Simple scratched designs are possible on the wax model surface and patina can be used in the finishing process to complete your look. Whatever your preference, you will leave with a ring that uniquely suits your swagger.

This is a two-session course encompassing both the forming of a wax model ring and the completion of your ring in.925 Sterling Silver.

Course outline:

Session 1 - GO time:
Your teacher will guide you through the design and carving/ sculpting process to form your ring in wax. There is time to experiment with waxes before the completion of your chosen ring that will be ready to cast. Allow three hours.

Session 2 - SHOW time:
Your raw casting will be ready for finishing and your teacher will guide you through hand filing, sanding and polishing so you can wear your ring out of the studio. Allow two to three hours. BLING BLING!

You will be using jewellers wax, saws, files, sandpaper and polishing equipment to complete your ring and of course that creative brain of yours!

At the conclusion of the first session, your wax model will be ready for casting and will be sent for professional casting in.925 sterling silver. If you impress yourself so much and would like to cast more than one design, additional rings can be purchased as an add-on at check out.
