Onyx and Flame Studio

Bren was great, the class was in a beautiful studio. Very happy with choosing this class as it allowed my fiancé and I to make each other custom wedding bands, with great guidance.

Our book club booked Bren for a 2 day workshop to make our own silver rings, starting first with a wax carving or sculpture. I think it is fair to say that we all LOVED it! We are all looking forward to coming back to shape, polish and finish our own designs and to see how they all turned out.

Bren is just lovely, very helpful with design and techniques to achieve our vision of how we wanted our jewellery to end up.

Onyx Studio is a fabulous place to draw inspiration from nature for our designs. Set in the backyard, open and bright looking out into nature.

I started by sculpting my ring, and then ended up carving a second which I will cast. The wax was very easy to work with and would recommend both types of wax. We learnt how to shape wax into ring or earring designs. Some used different items found in nature to make designs on the soft wax ie. leaf, stick, shell, seed imprints. One of the ladies brought with her a precious stone that she had had for a long time to make a ring to incorporate the stone for her daughter (can't wait to see how this turned out).

Bren's knowledge on how it will look when it is cast helped us to finalise our designs.

I just loved everything about the workshop/ experience, I can see how jewellery making can become addictive. What's not to love about making something that is your own design and vision and being able to admire and wear it for years to come!

I will be coming back with my sister's and with other friend groups to continue to create!

Brenda’s silver ring making class was exceptional. I had no idea what to craft when I entered her beautiful studio amongst the trees. She provided ideas and inspiration from her own work and some foraged objects. Brenda has a knack in patiently drawing out your creativity. She was generous with her time and resources, encouraging lots of trial and error to ensure your final piece is perfect!

I loved the setting of the studio in a beautiful garden which made the experience very calming. Brenda’s bubbly personality, her love for what she does and experience made the whole experience lovely.
Each one in our group made something completely different and can’t wait to see the end result! Thank you!

I had the most amazing time thanks Brenda (and Reggie)! I learnt a lot about wax carving and felt so supported trying new techniques out. I left feeling so inspired such a lovely morning.

Loved it! Brenda was patient and great company. I went in with only a vague idea of what I wanted design-wise and Brenda encouraged my creativity. Working with wax was way more fun than I expected.
