Silver Ring Making Workshop: Wax Carving

Become a jewellery designer and artisan for a day and learn skills that professional jewellers use to cast one of a kind pieces. Using jewellers tools including saws and files you will create a hand-carved ring to cherish.

In this fun workshop, all you need is your willingness to give it a go and the sky is the limit! Carve a smooth organic shape, classic signet style, imperfectly textured, or with a clean geometric vibe. Whatever your preference, your teacher will guide you through the design and carving process to create a ring that uniquely suits your swagger.

Have fun with a group of friends, book a couples session to gift each other, or meet fellow creatives in a small group workshop as an individual student. Workshops are either run at Pearl Beach or your instructor can bring the workshop to you.

Using the ancient art of Lost Wax carving techniques, we will be using jewellers wax, saws and files. There will be an opportunity to try out different shapes and surface textures before choosing one that will be cast. At the completion of your class, your wax model ring will be sent for professional casting in.925 sterling silver and hand finished in a matt or high shine finish by your instructor. If you impress yourself so much and would like to cast more than one design, additional rings can be purchased as an add-on at check out.

Please Note: Your ring will be ready for collection from Pearl Beach or posted when ready (between two to three weeks later). As we are working directly with wax in this technique of Lost Wax Carving, you will not be able to take your finished creation home on the same day. The postage cost is covered with your booking and for group bookings, rings will be sent to one address.

Additionally: If you would like to complete the finishing process with us, we offer a two part workshop titled “Silver ring making two-part workshop: Wax carving and finishing.” Book this workshop if you want to return two weeks later to file, polish and buff your creation so that it ready to wear or gift.

If you book a private workshop for a group of six, the organiser will be able to cast an additional ring at no extra cost.

Your teacher can travel to your space for groups of six. Your instructor will set up a workspace in the comfort of your own home and bring all materials and tools to you. As the organiser, you will be able to cast an additional ring at no extra cost. If your location requires travel to Sydney or Newcastle, an additional $100 which will be charged after booking.
