Choose Your Beads / Charms

This is where your design begins!

Explore our beautiful selection of glass beads, freshwater pearls, real gemstone beads, handmade African trade beads, charms, and speciality pieces to create a jewellery design that feels like you.

Mix colours, textures, shapes, and finishes to bring your vision to life, whether you love something simple and delicate or bold and eye-catching.

With so many combinations to choose from, the hardest part will be deciding which ones make it into your final design.

Choose your thread

Choose Your Thread

The foundation of your jewellery design starts here.

Choose the thread that best suits your style, the beads you've selected, and how you want to wear your finished piece.

Each thread option creates a different look, feel, and level of durability, and I'll guide you through choosing the best option for your design.

Start designing your jewellery

Start Designing Your Jewellery

Now the creative process really begins!

Arrange your chosen beads, charms, and spacers on your necklace tray to experiment with different layouts, colours, textures, and patterns before bringing your design to life.

Play around, move pieces around, and let your creativity guide you. This is where you can see your vision come together and create a design that feels completely your own.

There are no rules, just endless possibilities.

Enjoy some nibbles while you create!

Enjoy Some Nibbles While You Create

Take a moment to relax, connect, and enjoy the experience while you bring your jewellery design to life.

Enjoy a complimentary grazing platter, your favourite BYO drinks, and a creative atmosphere where you can slow down, have fun, and share the experience with the people around you.

Sip, create, and make memories while designing a piece of jewellery you'll love wearing.

Learn to make gems into charms

Learn to Make Gems Into Charms

Want to add a little extra sparkle/detail? You'll also learn how to incorporate gemstones into your design and turn them into beautiful pendants or statement features.

Finish your pieces and wear it!

Finish Your Pieces and Wear It

This is where your design transforms into a finished piece you can wear and enjoy.

You'll learn how to complete your jewellery with professional finishing techniques, including adding loops, attaching clasps, securing your design, and creating those final details that bring everything together.

Join us for a relaxed, creative experience where you'll design and handcraft your own personalised beaded jewellery while enjoying your favourite BYO drinks. Whether you're planning a catch-up with friends, a date, a birthday celebration, a hens party, or simply looking for a fun afternoon out, our Sip and Bead workshops are designed for everyone, with no experience or creative skills required.
Unlike traditional bead workshops, we've carefully curated a premium collection of materials, so every design feels personal. Choose from hundreds of beautiful glass beads, freshwater pearls, handmade African trade beads, handmade clay beads, and charms to create jewellery that reflects your own style. No plastic beads... ever!
One of the things that makes our workshops so special is our ever-changing collection of hand-selected vintage and preloved glass beads. We spend countless hours sourcing beautiful treasures from op shops, markets, and vintage collections, with every bead personally selected, thoroughly cleaned, and ready to become part of a brand-new piece of jewellery. It means you'll often discover colours, shapes, and styles that simply aren't available from standard bead suppliers.
Don’t worry, not all beads are sourced second-hand. Our speciality and statement pieces are sourced new from trusted suppliers, including glass, freshwater pearls, handmade African trade beads, and curated artisan designs.
You'll also choose from three different stringing options, allowing you to customise both the look and durability of your jewellery.
Throughout the workshop, we'll guide you step-by-step as you learn professional finishing techniques and create pieces you'll be proud to wear. Whether you're dreaming of an everyday necklace, a colourful charm piece, a daisy necklace (we'll teach you how to create the perfect daisies out of beads), layered designs, or something completely your own, we'll help bring your ideas to life.

FAQ

Can I bring my own beads or charms to add to my piece?
You’re welcome to bring any beads or charms from home to add into your piece on the day. Please note the workshop price remains the same, as all materials, tools and inclusions are fully provided.
Will my piece be waterproof?
I don’t like to use the term “waterproof” when it comes to jewellery, as all jewellery no matter the material should be cared for to keep it looking its best. Different types of water (salt water, chlorine, hot water, soaps and chemicals) can all affect materials in different ways over time. That said, your piece is made using quality components designed for everyday wear, and if it does get wet occasionally, it will be completely fine. We simply recommend treating your jewellery with care avoiding harsh chemicals and removing it before swimming or showering, sleeping, exercising when possible, to help it stay beautiful for longer.
How long is the workshop?
The workshop runs for approximately 1.5-2 hours, depending on how many pieces you choose to create.

Recent reviews of Sip and Jewel Beading Workshop

  • 5/5 from Michelle Parker, attended Aug 2026: This was my first attempt at making bead jewellery, and I was extremely happy I found Sip and Jewel. Janella was very welcoming with a fabulous set-up to learn in. She is an excellent teacher who clearly explains the necessary techniques, whilst providing plenty of creative ideas to guide me. I came home with 2 bracelets which I absolutely love. I highly recommend Janella's classes. I will definitely be booking into other workshops with her. Thanks so much Janella

At J-Line Designs, our Sip & Jewel workshops offer a distinctive jewellery-making experience that sets us apart from typical silversmith sessions. While many workshops guide participants to create similar plain ring bands, our sessions empower you to design 1-2 unique pieces—be it rings, pendants, or earring charms. You're free to explore any design, shape, or gem addition, ensuring your creation is truly one-of-a-kind. Although you won't take your jewellery home immediately, each piece undergoes professional casting and finishing, resulting in a personalized treasure. To enhance the experience, our workshops are BYO-friendly and include a grazing board, blending creativity with a relaxed social atmosphere.
A key feature of our workshops is the use of the ancient lost-wax casting technique. This method allows for intricate and detailed designs, as your wax model is transformed into a metal masterpiece through a meticulous process. This technique not only ensures precision but also adds a touch of historical craftsmanship to your creation.
