I'm Liz, an art facilitator from Kadia Occupational Therapy.
I work with OTs to help their clients reach their goals by getting creative in the studio. Sometimes occupational therapy can be a bit overwhelming and putting it into a different context can help!
I also run accessible art workshops and individual sessions that are all about finding the joy in art again and unlocking its therapeutic potential. As someone who has hugely benefited from using art as part of my own therapy, I believe that art is an essential method of self-expression that should be available to absolutely everyone. While my own preferred medium is oil painting, I work with a range of materials to unlock different sensory experiences. I am also trained in mindfulness and counselling techniques and while what I do is different from Art Therapy I have borrowed techniques and exercises developed from that space.
I'm especially passionate about helping people find the joy in art, with a positive and safe multi-sensory experience that is focused on their specific needs. My creative practice has evolved over years of teaching art in different contexts, learning from internationally awarded artists, and from time spent in Upolu, Samoa at EFKS Fine Art and as a guest tutor at the University of Samoa.
