The Locals is a new creative collective. We have begun delivering small-scale creative and community-focused initiatives. Our group originated as an informal Art Club—similar in format to a book club—where we meet to support each other’s creative practices and explore local arts events together.
In 2024, we began developing a website to connect with others in the community who are interested in joining the group or promoting their local creative business.
Individually, our members bring a broad range of experience:
Rebecca Tunks – A digital marketing specialist with over 20 years’ experience in the arts. She has served on the board of ARTRAGE, curated and delivered exhibitions both independently and in collaboration with organisations.
Carly Catalano – A qualified teacher and successful small business owner. Carly produces naturally dyed textiles and delivers hands-on creative workshops.
Michelle Duncan – A practising local artist and finance professional, bringing both creative insight and strong administrative skills.
Alex Mellor – Actively engaged in school and community events, with experience coordinating and supporting local initiatives.
Together, our skills and enthusiasm provide a strong foundation for delivering inclusive, creative programming at the Scarborough Women’s Shed.
Vision: Support creativity as a source of well-being.
Today we are running creative programs for women in the Stirling Womens Shed. Our programs are mostly spontaneous, creative activities to bring together like-minded creatives.
