I am a passionate and highly skilled textile/visual artist with over 15 years of experience in weaving and art making.

I have a master’s degree in woven textile design, and I have been a practicing studio artist since 2005. I have frequently exhibited in Australia and overseas as well as worked on large scale public art and socially engaged art projects. I work from my home studio, and I sell my works at art galleries and on my online shop. I draw inspiration from the wilderness, the human condition, and my Hungarian cultural heritage. I specialise in loom and off-loom weaving with alternative and recycled materials to create 2 and 3 dimensional mixed media artworks.

After gaining experience through private tutoring, I now open my home studio for group classes. I’m excited to share my skills and knowledge on how to give the ancient technique of weaving a contemporary application.

The session was a wonderful introduction to weaving. I really enjoyed looking at the range of weaving materials Zsofia has. They challenged my thinking around the types of work that could be created.
Zsofia is very generous with sharing her knowledge and skills. Seeing some of her work in person is very inspirational.
The session was great value for money and I left ready to assemble my frame and to get started with some materials Zsofia shared.
Zsofia offered a one-on-one session where a lot of people would have cancelled for less than 2 or 3 participants. I am very grateful she did and it was well worth the trip from Tasmania! I highly recommend this workshop.

We had the loveliest time learning to weave with Zsofia. She was gentle, attentive and ensured that everyone experienced creative success; from our youngest at 6, our other child who is 9, as well as my partner and I. If you are looking for something fulfilling to do as a family or group, look no further. Zsofia’s class was a really special find.

This class was awesome. Zsofi is an incredibly generous teacher. She is kind and patient and has so much knowledge and information to share. All materials are supplied and you can even purchase a loom to take home if you choose. She teaches in such a way that you feel like you’ve really understood the process and didn’t just complete a project that you couldn’t replicate later. Zsofi’s class is so unique in that she teaches you to use a variety of unusual materials to create something truly beautiful. She is an inspirational artist and I would highly recommend this class to anyone. All skill levels could do this class.

We have just finished our weaving workshop with Zsofia and we LOVED every minute of it. Zsofia adjusted her usual class routine to fit us with two little kids (6 and 8 years old) and two grandparents and it was a great success. We all got into such deep flow with touching, choosing and using the different colours and materials that we didn't even take a break. All 6 of us were completely immersed in the magic of creation for hours. We returned home with a framed, family masterpiece we are super proud of. It is now on the wall, reminding us how precious family is, and how important it is to live life the fullest and experience new things together. Thank you Zsofia, we will be back for a 9th birthday party next year!
