Andrew, an avid re-enactor and LARPer, is the proprietor of Western Leathercraft. With a lifelong passion for art, primarily illustration, Andrew’s interest in leathercraft began after joining a local Perth medieval club (The Society for Creative Anachronism) in 1989. He moved beyond making leather belts and decorative armour when in 2010 he bought the craft shop, Western Leathercraft, which was then based in East Perth.
Andrew began hand-crafting leather items to sell in the shop and at market stalls, trading skills with a wide range of local leather crafters, and attending conferences to improve his skills. Teaching Leathercraft since 2017, he is also a Secondary School Teacher of Visual Art and Humanities.
