Rock and Roll Your Lamp Shade

While your base is drying off a bit, Jac from lampelier will guide you through the steps to rock and roll your own colourful lampshade.

Add the finishing touches to your base

Add the Finishing Touches to Your Base

Your base has now had a little bit of time to relax and dry out a bit which allows you to do some final tweaking to finish it off.

Select your glaze

Select Your Glaze

You can select from one of three glazes that will work with the fabric of your shade.

Fire and wire

Fire and Wire

You can take your shade home on the day. Your base needs to hang with us so we can fire, glaze and wire it up!

Spend the day with Hilary and Jac to mindfully craft your very own bespoke table lamp.
Hilary from Hilary Jones Ceramics will guide you through the steps to hand build your ceramic base and Jac from Lampelier will show you how to rock and roll a fabric shade to go with it.
On the day, you will select a glaze to complement or contrast with your shade.
The workshop will be split into a morning session and an afternoon session with a lunch break in between:
  • 10:00am - 12:30pm: Ceramic base making
  • 12:30pm - 1:30pm: Clean up and lunch break - BYO lunch
  • 1:30pm - 3:30pm: Shade rolling
If you are short on time, you can finish up at 12.30 and elect to have Jac make your shade for you.
After the class, your pieces will be fired, glazed, fired again and then wired up so they are ready to light up your home.
Note: Please allow 4-6 weeks for the drying, firing, glazing and wiring. We will advise when your lamp is ready for collection or we can arrange shipping for an additional fee. Shipping options will be discussed during the workshop.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 4 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we may cancel the session; if that happens, we'll inform you and let you choose between a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.
