Learn Cartooning: Queer Cartoons 1

Learn how to draw cartoons as you create your own characters and tell your own stories.

2 hours Class size 4 to 60

label $45 (or 4 payments of $11.25 Afterpay)

Learn cartooning online. Cartooning is a powerful way to create and share your own stories. It is a potent tool for rants and rebellion, so you can comment on the world around you. You can turn people you know into characters and comment on life and relationships. Your cartoons can be scanned, emailed, or posted online. So often other people's stories are told, this time, you can learn skills to tell your own. And in a safe space.

You don't need traditional drawing skills here, so let go of the "But I can't draw" fear. Cartoon characters do not need to be realistic, in fact, they often aren't realistic at all: think SpongeBob SquarePants, Peppa Pig, or Mickey Mouse.

In this online workshop, we are focusing on learning and building skills to draw expressive faces. Much of cartooning is about showing strong emotions and drama at pivotal points in a story. I'll give you simple challenges to develop your confidence and build up skills step by step. I will provide a detailed worksheet to inspire and guide you. See you there!

Note on the worksheet: The week before the workshop, I'll send out the worksheet. Please print it out ahead of time, so you can refer to it and draw on it during the workshop.
