Dear Reader
Welcome to my small and humble space. I thank you for your visit and hope that we will become good friends.  I will do my best to furnish you with only what you need at this time, otherwise we both may be here for far longer than we can spare. And if our first meeting on this page is agreeable, then it will be my great pleasure to further our friendship over tea, cake and sewing.
Let me first start with some introductions. I am Niroshni Boyce, founder of Living Art. I do apologise for using the grandiose word “founder” to describe my quieter station. It is merely a lack of a suitable adjective to describe an established business. Living Art is by no means lofty or flamboyant. It is rather modest, uncomplicated and simple. You will find a homey space with a sincere intent.
My bold and gracious ambition is to help spark your creativity by hosting slow, meditative sewing workshops. Here you will gain a fun, sustainable life skill that will give you the opportunity to slow down.
My sewing story started with a deep desire to adorn my dolls with beautiful clothing. I was about six or maybe seven years old. With a gift of a sewing machine, resilience and many many mistakes I developed the hard won skills. Self taught, I made curtains, cushions, bean bags and everything but the kitchen sink. Much later in life, in 2009 I completed a Fashion Designer course focusing on Pattern-making and sewing which improved my techniques. This gave me the confidence to make my own clothes.
Through sewing my wardrobe, I slowed down. I started to meditate, write poetry, journal, paint and sketch; my life became more meaningful. I had the time to observe my world, connect with nature, increase my self-awareness and reassess my priorities. My artistic creations brought me inner harmony, balance and growth. Living Art was inspired by this personal and spiritual transformation.
I shifted from my 20-year corporate career ((Environmental Scientist since 1998) to the artist lifestyle that I had always longed for. And slowly, I gravitated to urban homesteading and found peace in my sanctuary. Now you will find me, a very different person from my 2009 version.
When I am not busy home educating my darling son, I host warm sewing workshops over tea and cake. I love chatting about books, sourdough bread, personal transformations and all things spiritual.
Now that you know a little more about me, I hope that you will come and visit. I would love to meet you, a like minded soul. I will share my sewing skills so that you too can ignite your inner Creator…and once connected to this healing power, who knows what threads of freedom will weave into your beautiful story.
May you remember your divinity, the inner Creator and be free!
With love
