  • 5/5 from Emily Pleece, attended Oct 2025: This Indian cooking class is my favourite class that Otao runs. It is a lot of fun, staff are great and the food is delicious. Highly recommend
  • 5/5 from Emily Pleece, attended Aug 2024: Our teacher was amazing. Very patient and friendly. The class was easy to follow and food was amazing
  • 4/5 from Peter Lambert, attended Jan 2024: The teacher was knowledgeable, very friendly, and generous. The lesson was really good, we had a great time, and the meal was delicious. The cost is quite high, which is only thing stopping me from giving this 5 stars.
  • 4/5 from Brian Morks, attended Feb 2023: Was very nice, had a good time. Teacher was great and very positive. Missed the part when to get the recipes via QR Code (Wine).
  • 4/5 from Narelle Raymond, attended May 2022: The first teacher did not explain things properly, there was a language barrier and difficult to follow. Second teacher was amazing very clear instructions and excellent. Disappointing that we didnt gook Prawn curry masala which was on the booking sheet. Also I came alone so to have to share ingredients and cooking with somebody where knew very little was difficult. Prefer to cook myself and have my own ingredients and utensils especially from a covid hygiene point of view when my partner was tasting things and double dipping the spoon in our combined meals. Different if I went with somebody else but this was stranger
  • 5/5 from Emma Morris, attended Feb 2022: We had a great time tonight. Lots of good food and good company. The curries were surprisingly easy to make and the naan particularly delicious.
  • 4/5 from Ruby Warber, attended Dec 2021: Really enjoyed my class at Otao Kitchen. The teacher, Dylan was very skilled and knowledgable. I liked how we had the option of gathering around, but also that the steps were live recorded and broadcast on the screen. The food itself was tasty and portions were great. My only suggestion is that at three hours it does go quite late, we went over and finished up at 9:45 and so I think it could have been run a bit faster, however with so many dishes I understand this is hard. Will definitely be back to try more types of cuisine!
  • 5/5 from Justin Binko, attended Jul 2021: I’ve done many many cooking classes - this one of the best. Great instruction, friendly relaxed atmosphere, helpful and extremely informative. Really took the “fear” out of Indian cooking - chef was amazing and I’ve book another cuisine with him. Oh the food was amazing Thanks so much
  • 5/5 from Miriam Balis, attended May 2021: Dylan was a fabulous teacher with a great knowledge of Indian cookery. We really enjoyed our hands on learning experience and the food was delicious. I am looking forward to attending further classes at Otao cooking school
  • 4/5 from Ross, attended Apr 2021: I really enjoyed participating in Dylan's class today. Super impressed with his knowledge about other cultures. And the Indian was divine!

ABOUT US
Otao kitchen is a cooking school and event space with a mission for people to come together to cook, connect, celebrate. We believe cooking and eating should be an experience, not just a meal. We created Otao kitchen as an extension of our passions to cook, share and inspire.
EXPERT IN COOKING CLASSES
Otao kitchen was launched in Melbourne, Australia in July 2014, with the goal of celebrating the rich and varied cooking experiences of Melbourne’s immigrant multicultural communities. Its founder, Chef Ha Nguyen, originally from Hanoi shares his passion for food, instructing customers in the exotic diaspora of Asian and around the world cuisine.
WHAT WE DO BEST?
Today our guests can get inspired by cooking with our local and international chefs, listen to their cooking and travel experiences in Asia and around the world and bring some cooking and cultural tips and tricks home. With the nods at the diversity of communities within Melbourne, Otao kitchen features an array of global food experiences from Indian to Japan to Mexico and more.
In 2020 with the challenge of global Covid 19 pandemic, we set out to capture the curriculum of our hands-cooking classes and deliver it online to home cooks in Australia and across the world to guide you to cooking success and better health.
