Give a memorable gift
card_giftcard Get a gift cardSick of mundane fast fashion? Want to express yourself through outfits that actually reflect who you are? Maybe you’re a big fan of Apfel or Kusama? We got you. This isn’t your grandma’s sewing circle. This is a crash course in sewing for people who want to crop that shirt, patch those pants, or make a sick little bag (or eight). Textile artist and maker Jeni Lausch will show you how to get comfortable on a sewing machine, navigate basic construction and repair skills, and leave with a finished piece you actually want to wear or use. No perfectionism. No pressure. Just practical skills, creative chaos, and excellent vibes. Whether you’re looking to save your favourite jeans, make something from scratch, or start yourself down a highly addictive tailoring trail, this is your entry point. Let’s be real, there’s nothing better than a well-fitting fit. All experience levels welcome - especially none! This class is limited to 8 participants, so secure a spot on the machine for you and anyone you want to learn with. Please note: This class requires at least 5 students to run. In the unlikely event that we don't get this number of students, we'll cancel the class and fully refund you and inform you via email, so please watch your email a few days prior to the class.
- All fabrics, materials, and sewing machines provided
- Step-by-step guidance from Jeni
- A chill, supportive studio space
- Good tunes, tea & coffee, and plenty of scrap bin treasure
An old tee, pair of pants, or scrap you’re dying to revive, or nothing at all… nothing at all… nothing at all…
This class is perfect for beginners - no prior experience is needed.
This class is great for a birthday or hens party.
Jeni Lausch
Jeni Lausch is a Melbourne-based maker with a passion for knitting, sewing, and all things textiles.
A self-taught artist and creative force, Jeni has brought her playful, hands-on approach to a wide range of projects – from crafting whimsical costumes for the iconic NYC Halloween Parade to creating props and pieces for film, television, and music videos. Her work often lives at the intersection of art and interaction, with immersive installations, pop-up experiences, and joyful collaborations that invite people to connect.
Jeni’s independent projects are rooted in a simple but powerful mission to bring people unexpected joy. With a love for teaching, Jeni delights in helping others build practical, beautiful skills; whether it’s knitting your first scarf, adding a piece to your own wardrobe, or sewing a stylish, high-quality bag from scratch. Her workshops are welcoming, empowering, and filled with good energy.
Having lived all over the world, Jeni could not be happier to call Fitzroy / Collingwood home, and she can’t wait to share her passion with you.
Have you ever wanted to learn to knit, make your own clothes, or craft something beautiful with your hands?
Jeni would love to show you how. It’s never too late to start.
