Ready to finally use fabric scraps in a way that feels creative, practical, and actually enjoyable?
In this hands-on four hour workshop, you will learn how to transform simple fabric strips into beautiful finished pieces you’ll be proud to take home.
You’ll be guided step-by-step through a fun (and slightly addictive) technique that opens up endless creative possibilities — whether you love subtle textures or bold statement designs.
Throughout the session, you will create a range of finished, usable pieces—not just samples:
  • Make your own fabric phone bag, customised with your chosen fabrics, perfect for everyday use or gifting.
  • Create fabric-embellished cards and envelopes, a unique and personal way to turn scraps into something meaningful.
  • Make a rice sachet and soap sachet (gone are the days of lavender sachets), ideal for drawers, gifts, or a calming, handmade touch.
You will also learn how to construct a strip of fabric with scraps, a versatile base you can continue using for future projects at home.
You will learn how to:
  • Turn scraps into cohesive, beautiful designs
  • Combine fabrics with confidence
  • Use strip piecing techniques to create texture and structure
  • Apply your new skills across multiple future projects
You’ll leave with:
  • Finished, practical pieces
  • New skills you can use again and again
  • Confidence to keep creating
Want to keep going at home? Optional kits (straps, zips and embellishments) will be available on the day.

I didn’t start sewing the traditional way… I actually came back to it when I needed it most.
In 2019, I was faced with identity fraud — something that later became a feature on A Current Affair.
I needed something to ground me — something creative, something quiet, something that felt like I could rebuild a little piece of myself.
So I returned to sewing.
It was something familiar, something safe… and it gave me a way to focus, to create, and to slowly start putting things back together — both in my hands and in my life.
Instead of letting it set me back, I leaned even further into sewing and creativity, using it as a way to move forward and rebuild with purpose.
What started as a way to heal quickly turned into something much bigger. I became completely obsessed — not just with creating, but with the idea of rescuing fabric that would otherwise end up in landfill and giving it a second life.
That passion eventually led me to build what is now Queen of Fabric, where I’ve brought together 7 fabric businesses into one space — all focused on creativity, sustainability, and making sewing accessible to everyone.
