FAQ

I have no experience and am a bit nervous about doing a group workshop ...?
The Rundle Collective Studios is a friendly, welcoming, and accessible space for creatives. We have a range of artists in our space at all stages of their career! We ensure the space and workshops are always welcoming to all and encourage anyone to come along no matter their experience level. Our group sizes are fairly small and allow us to help everyone during the workshop to the level they need.
I'm not sure what level of workshop to attend? I have some basic knowledge - is this workshop still useful for me?
If you understand some basics but still have some frustrations with watercolour this workshop will still likely cover some good fundamentals to help you build better confidence. If you have used watercolour but never mixed your own colours there will still be lots of knowledge to gain about general colour theory, how to mix your own colours properly, using chromatic blacks and greys, and how to properly desaturate your colours. If you feel like you would like to learn about that the workshop is definitely worth your time still. If you have all of that down but want to know more we would recommend our advanced workshop instead which focuses on new weird and wonderful materials you might not know you could watercolour with, understanding other mediums, grounds, and very alternative processes.

As a Contemporary Artist I have widely travelled and learned skills from masters of their craft from around the globe. I am dedicated to ongoing professional development and have completed my Honours in Contemporary art, Bachelor of Art specialising in Photographic based practice and more. My work focuses on many mediums coming together to create immersive art experiences and I am constantly challenging the boundaries of traditional art mediums. I create beautiful things but also work with the experience of creating art as being a very special experience.
I really want to help other people build the confidence they need to enjoy the act of making or the process of creating as this is such a fundamentally human experience no matter your current skill level. I work often in the media of digital photography, analogue photography, alternative chemical photographic image making, watercolour and ink painting, silk painting, drawing and fine illustration and more. I have worked with many people to build their skills and have delivered many workshops on both traditional mediums as well as contemporary approaches to using art mediums. The main difference for my workshops and 1 on 1 art mentorship is a focus on contemporary approaches and benefits of mindful practice. If you are looking to develop your skills further in new directions this is were I will bring a unique set of guiding questions and help open some doorways of ideas that you might not have come across yet and which you likely won't find in more traditional workshops. For those who just want to gain some confidence in general mediums first, I focus more on the fundamentals you need to work on in order to gain confidence, and focus on creating joy in being present when creating. There are so many documented benefits of creating and using art to help improve individual wellbeing - I want to empower people to feel confident and treat creating as a kind of moment for self care or something to be cherished or celebrated, and for people to gain the confidence to share their creations with others (or just make for themselves!).
I have been part of many local arts collectives in Adelaide, and am currently a resident artist at the Rundle Collective Studios in the CBD. I have also been part of a small artist run publishing initiative, providing illustrations for local publications, part of many exhibitions of contemporary work, and have completed artist in residence programs in various countries. As part of this journey I have been a humble recipient of the New Colombo Program full scholarship to live and study abroad in Vietnam, conducting community workshops on art and sustainability with a major exhibition with the Vietnamese Women's Museum. I have also participated with Honourable Mention in the Canon 48 hour photography challenge in Adelaide, and had work published in multiple noted publications. I have participated in many exhibitions and continue to explore ways that connect art with our global community.
